Dear Parents, Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate

this holiday. Last week Friday was our annual

International Food Festival, where we celebrated Festivals Around the World. I would like to thank our hardworking PTO, staff and members of the community who worked tirelessly to pull off yet another successful event.

Yesterday and today we have had "celebrations" in classrooms sponsored by parents. We thank parents who are supporting this holiday as it helps us all better understand how different holidays around the world.

In addition to Thanksgiving celebrations, HS Student Council held a Spirit Week, where each day students dressed differently. While the idea is well intended, and we want to support our Student Council, it does cause disruption to our daily routine, something that we want to mange carefully. The Admin and Student Council will review how Spirit Week went and make decisions for the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents who were involved in the process of meeting candidates last week. There were several groups who met candidates with predetermined questions. Feedback from those meetings were forwarded to the Board and were discussed in the deliberations in coming to a decision. I appreciate the time and effort put in by all groups that met with candidates. We look forward to welcoming Helen to the ISPS community and I am confident that she will be able to continue to help ISPS on our

journey of continuous improvement. Today is the end of the 1st Term for ES and

reports will be available through Skyward shortly. In addition, Parent Conferences will be held next week, November 30th, and I hope you have signed up for a slot with your child's teacher. As a reminder to ES parents, dismissal on the 30th is at 11:30.

We have three weeks before we break for the Christmas Holiday and I know that in the MYP summative assessments are coming up. MS and HS will also be holding exams before we break on the 14th, and I ask you to make sure your children are prepared for exams and summative assessments. Please make every effort as a family to ensure that your children are present for these important activities.

On Friday, starting at 2:45pm, our MS students (Grade 6) will be attending the much anticipated "Lock In". They will spend all Friday evening here at the school in guided activities. The level of excitement and anticipation has been growing and we look forward to this "bonding" activity. A reminder to MS parents to pick up your son/daughter at 9:00am on Saturday morning.

Our HS National Honor Society will be holding their annual fundraising BINGO evening on Saturday from 4:00-7:30pm. The students have been working very hard on the event and have collected a record # of prizes to give away during the event. Please consider attending the event on Saturday afternoon. Enjoy your weekend.

Una tarde con España… … at the ISPS International Food Festival

In keeping with the Language Acquisition Department’s year long cultural focus “Un Año en España”, the teachers and AP students set up a stand for the Kingdom of Spain in the Global Villages booth of the ISPS Inter-national Food Festival. Students teachers and family members prepared paella, churros and dulce de leche. We were pleased to get help from the Embassy of Spain to decorate our space, including a generous portion of Queso Manchego to offer to visitors. His excellency the Am-bassador of Spain honoured us with a visit.

FDA to Ban Flavored E-Cigarettes Hello Everyone,

Over the years e-cigarettes have been advertised as being better than regular cigarettes. Research has shown that the information is wrong and they do contain nicotine which is the addictive factor in cigarettes.

Due to the rise in teenagers using e-cigarettes the FDA is now putting a ban on flavored e-cigarettes at U.S. convenience stores.

Read the information:
