Macedonia Call“After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go

into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days.” (Acts 16:7-12 NKJV)

Have you ever set your mind on doing something or going somewhere only to end up going somewhere else? That was certainly the case with Paul and his companions. They were on their way to Bithynia, but the Spirit stopped them. Just when they thought they were headed in the right direction God showed them that He had something else in mind. They were to go to Macedonia, instead. Of course, being the strong man of faith Paul was, he didn’t object to the Lord’s plans, but immediately changed his course and set out for Macedonia. Thus, Paul eventually made his way to Philippi.

I appreciate how the Scriptures state that Paul and his companions “immediately” left for Macedonia. To have such faith as to follow The Lord without question is commendable. After all, people typically want to see a list of details and plans before taking a journey. Yet Paul knew Jesus would never lead him astray, that no matter where He wanted him to go, it would be the right place.

What I find to be most interesting is that even though Paul and his companions had good intentions from the start (wanting to go to Bithynia to preach the gospel), it didn’t mean

God agreed with their plans. It’s not enough to have good intentions. Our actions must agree with God’s will. Assuming you’re where God wants you to be simply because it feels right is presumption, not faith. No doubt, The Lord can use you wherever you are, but you should want to be where you can shine most brightly for Him. How else could you do that unless you allow Him to order your steps? That means you must be willing to change your plans for God without hesitation, just as Paul did. By going where God leads, your efforts in serving Him will be fruitful.

By the way, did you notice how God sent Paul and his companions to where there was a cry for help? Many have an attitude that they can’t help others unless they first help themselves. But sometimes we can only find the kind of help we need in helping others. Doing God’s will isn’t about helping ourselves to what we want, as if there were a buffet of choices to select from according to our taste. It’s about accepting all of God’s plans for us without complaint, remembering that “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35b).

Are you where God wants you to be, or have you been leaning on your own understanding? Are you trying to fulfill a dream outside of His will? Many desire to serve God, but few are willing to follow Him. Instead of focusing on what you desire to get out of the world, fix your thoughts on learning how to walk with Jesus. Everything you need is in His hands. Receiving His blessing is a matter of going where He tells you. Are you willing to let Jesus lead the way? Are you really listening to God?

Ask God to stop you from doing what He doesn’t want for your life, and to put you on the path that leads to fulfilling His plans for you. Be willing to make any necessary changes to serve God, even if they’re radical. Remember, though it doesn’t always feel good to make changes, God’s way is always the right way. Any pursuit you give up in order to live in obedience to God will ultimately result in obtaining the very best in life.

Snake Eyes Historic Club & Hunter’s Heroes

Snake Eyes Historic Club from Calvert County, Maryland was created in 2005 by Joe Thatcher (JT), President of the club. The club bikes must be at least 20 years old. The members really enjoy riding

their old bikes as well as working on them with a special love for panhead, shovelhead and knucklehead motors. The club is very family oriented;

members go out of their way to help their fellow brothers and their families. Angie Hill (Green Eyes), wife of Jimmy Hill, Road Captain (Wheels) said that her & Wheels were on a camping trip almost 3 hours away from home and lost their car keys. JT and Vice President, Bryan Williams (Chubba) drove all that way to bring them their spare set of keys….. now that’s brotherly love. Many of the wives enjoy coming to the meetings and catching up with each other as well. The club welcomes new members so if you have an historic bike, the club would love to have you. The Snake Eyes Historic Club along with their ladies hosted

a pool tournament to help support Hunter’s Heroes. Hunter’s Heroes, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was founded in loving memory of Hunter Dean Scott who bravely battled brain

cancer for 3 years. Hunter became our angel on July 2, 2011 at the age of 7. The mission of Hunter’s Heroes, Inc. is to raise funds for brain tumor research and advances in treatment; increase

childhood cancer awareness; and provide uplifting gifts and monetary contributions to families with a child diagnosed with cancer. The non-profit was founded and is

managed by Hunter’s parents, Sandy and Eric Scott; his aunt, Tabbetha Russell; and his cousin, Dawn Barrett.

JT and Wheels were both related to Hunter as they are first cousins with Hunter’s paternal grandmother. The pool tournament was held at The Tavern in St. Leonard and

we had a fabulous turnout. The Tavern is a local establishment with great food & friendly people. The owners were kind enough to open up the pool tables for the tournament as well as provided a generous donation for the cause. Other local motorcycle clubs came to show their support and also gave generous donations. Between the tournament, 50/50 raffle and bake sale we were able to raise over $1000 for Hunter’s Heroes, after the $500 payout for tournament winners. Thanks to everyone who made the event possible.


Formed as a social organization to promote fun and camaraderie in the biker lifestyle. We started out as a group of family and friends that ride. We try to maintain a blend of Old School tradition and 21st century biker attitude.

In keeping pace with unwavering tradition, there are certain things that have and will remain unchanged. Such as the love of riding, wind in your face, sun at your back, respect and riding safe, love of family, and having fun while raising Hell!

Aside from the usual bikes, babes, buds, booze and some kick ass Rock & Roll, (with some Blues thrown in) we all share a common interest in raising money for good causes and having a great time doing it! With that, each chapter is encouraged to promote and participate in a variety of philanthropic endeavors by creating/hosting charity rides for non-profit organizations.

What is our agenda? Riding is always the main topic for our agenda. Whatever happens along the way is just a bonus. We do not discriminate against anyone because of what you ride. Although we love Harley’s, we don’t care what you ride. In the wind, is in the wind!

Our Baltimore Chapter was founded in 2009. We currently have 15 members and are still growing.

Our Baltimore Chapter strongly supports the Kamryn Lambert Foundation. This foundation was established in 2007 after the untimely passing of Kamryn at the age of 8. Kamryn’s grandparents founded the foundation. With our support, The Kamryn Lambert Foundation in 2012 raised funds for and awarded over $21,000 for nursing scholarships, and donated over $45,000 in gifts to the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital, their Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hematology Clinic, Sinai Children’s Hospital, The Baltimore Ronald McDonald House, as well as the pediatric departments at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Baltimore Washington Medical Center and Harbor Hospital. We also support the Susan G. Komen breast cancer ride and the annual ride for the ASCPA with other ideas on our agenda for adding future events and rides for important causes.

Our rides generally depart from one of our members homes fairly early in the morning with a stop for breakfast, coffee, and lunch. Over the past year a few of our longest and most enjoyable tours have included Shanksmear PA (August), Rock Hall,MD(July), Ocean City Bike Week (Labor Day), Chesapeake Beach (July), and a Fall Foliage ride to Thurmont MD (September/October), with our last ride of the season being the Kamryn Lambert Foundation Toy Rally in November (that was a chilly one!).

We are a One Patch Clan; we claim no Territory and are Neutral as far as supporting any Motorcycle Clubs. We are Family Oriented; Traditional Values and Riding is what we are about.

If you have lived this long, one can only hope that you know the meaning of the word Brotherhood. It really does mean something in the biker subculture. Many groups require that each member MUST ride a motorcycle. Many of our members

cannot ride anymore due to disabilities therefore, the spirit of Brotherhood, we offer alternative options. We only require that all of our bothers and sisters have ridden at some time and remain passionate about “the ride”.

we get, and the silver is for the color our hair turns. The scooter represents Old School, the old timer on the scoot represents each one of us that wears the patch proudly, and the Betty about to show herself represents the BOOBs that we Love so much!!!

MoTher ChaPTerHistory Our Mother

Chapter is located in Santa Rosa, California. We currently have 5 Chapters located throughout in the US.

This organization was officially formed, or set in motion by the untimely death of our friend Nick “The Stud Duck with the Fuzzy Nuts” on July 24th, 2006. We had been talking about doing something like this for a couple of years. It wasn’t until Nicks passing that we got off of our lazy asses and did something about it. We hope that the success of this organization will be a constant living memorial to Nick and all the others that have passed.

As many of us are disabled, and can no longer ride, we thought that in the spirit of Brotherhood we would offer a membership especially for our disabled Brothers. In this respect we gather socially in biker surroundings and bike enthusiast atmospheres. We all share the same love for being in the wind, surrounded by thundering bikes, and beautiful women, and of course, the occasional kick-ass party. With all of that in mind and after long hours of painstaking thought, we decided to call ourselves the Brotherhood Of Old Bikers (or BOOBs).

BOOBs is definitely more than an acronym. WE love BOOBs, this is one thing that we all agree on we praise them and thank the powers that be for their existence! Big or small we love them all.

When John and Mary first got married John said, “I am a sex addict and I’m putting a box under the bed to help control my addiction. You must promise never to look in it.”In all their 30 years of marriage Mary never looked. However, on the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside. In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $81,874.25 in cash. She closed the box and put it back under the bed. That evening after dinner Mary could no longer contain herself and confessed, “For all these years I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. But now I need to know why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?”John thought for a while and said, “I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again.”Mary was shocked but forgiving. John thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace.A little while later Mary asked John, so why do you have all that money in the box? John answered; “Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash”

Years ago, a young Navy Pilot was injured while ejecting from his A-4 Skyhawk due to engine failure during a catapult shot from the aircraft carrier, but due to the heroics of rescue helicopter and the ship’s hospital staff, the only permanent injury was the loss of one ear.Since he wasn’t physically impaired, he remained on flight status and eventually became an Admiral. However, during his career, he was always sensitive about his appearance.One day, the Admiral was interviewing two Navy Master Chiefs and a Marine Sergeant Major for his personal staff.The first Master Chief was a Surface Navy-type, and it was a great interview. At the end of the interview, the Admiral asked him, “Do you notice anything different about me?” The Master Chief answered, “Why, yes, Admiral. I couldn’t help but notice that you’re missing your starboard ear, and I don’t know whether this impacts your hearing on that side.”The Admiral got very angry at this lack of tact, and threw him out of his office.The next candidate, an Aviation Master Chief, when asked this same question, answered, “Well, yes, Sir. You seem to be short one ear.”The Admiral threw him out, as well.The third interview was with the Marine Sergeant Major. He was articulate, extremely sharp, and seemed to know more than the two Master Chiefs put together. The Admiral wanted this guy, but went ahead with the same question. “Do you notice anything different about me?”To his surprise, the Sergeant Major said, “Yes, Sir. You wear contact lenses.”The Admiral was impressed, and thought to himself, what an incredibly tactful Marine’. “And how would you know that?”, the Admiral asked.The Sergeant Major replied: “Well, Sir, it’s pretty hard to wear glasses with only one f***in’ ear!”

ABATE of Maryland has been working hard the last 90 days to make sure motorcyclists across the state are safe from legislative action that could negatively affect us. We have also been successful in getting HB212/HB374 Handicap tags for motorcyclists passed and signed by the Governor. This will enable handicapped motorcyclists to get two handicapped tags for their motorcycles. In the past you could only have one hard tag and a placard for your vehicles. Because of that you had

to turn in your hard plate for your car in order to get one for your motorcycle. Now you can get two tags for your motorcycles. Thanks to all those ABATE members who came to Annapolis every Monday night and lobbied their legislators. Also, thanks to Lt. Governor Brown for his letter of encouragement to the senate committee to bring the bill to a vote. It was 10-1 in the Senate Committee and unanimous in the House. Now our handicapped riders can ride and park in handicap parking spots.

This year is our 30th anniversary state party at Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, MD. This party is held every year as a thank you to our hard working members. Everyone is welcome. This year we will have 3 bands, special event tee shirts and patches, a rodeo, special ride on Saturday, food and drinks, camping and much more. Keep the dates June 7-9 on your calendar. Our raffle bike, 2013 Street Glide, will also be raffled off. Weekend pass for ABATE members is $30/person and non-ABATE $40/person. Friday and Saturday day pass $20. Limited RV spots. Full RV hook-up is available $25 per night. No ATV’s or dirt bikes. No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the event areas after 8 pm. Bishop — Hello, everyone! My name is Bishop and I am a sweet guy who was brought to BHS because my guardian was in poor health and could no longer care for me. I am a happy-go-lucky, energetic boy in need of a loving forever home. When I first arrived at BHS, all of my skin was horribly red and inflamed, and I looked miserable, but the staff tried

various foods and discovered I do well with Science Diet DD. My skin looks so much better now, but I will always need to be fed this hypo-allergenic food to keep my allergies under control. For me to live happily and safely within your family, I have a few requirements-- first, an all adult household (no kids under age 18) that is on the quiet side with not a lot of busy in and out traffic. I’d also like to be the king of the castle and not share you with any other pets. When it comes to being outside, please don’t ever leave me unsupervised or put me in a yard with an electric fence, and please keep me on a leash with you anytime we go away from home. I’d hate to be separated from you. If you can do all that, then to make sure we are all adjusting well, BHS will visit us a minimum of 2 times at the home and have us come in to visit them at the shelter 2 times. The vet would also like to have you keep in touch for consults on my health. Isn’t it great how much they want to make our life together work out? I am so longing for an understanding loving, forever home. Please fill out an application 1st if you are interested.

Brutus — Hello there! My name is Brutus, and I came to BHS from another shelter when they ran out of room for me. I like to go for walks, but I am quite strong so the staff walks me wearing a harness and using a metal leash. I have to admit, I could use some help with my training and because I’m such a big boy BHS says it would be best for me to live in an all adult household with adopters who’ve owned a dog in the last 5 years. Lucy — Fun! That’s me in a word. I’m a friendly, happy girl who’s always looking for a good time being the center of attention! I was brought to BHS with my housemate because our previous guardian lost his home and we had nowhere to go. In fact, we were kept outside all the time – it was awful and something I never want to do again. Even though I came here with another dog, I would now like to be the only animal in my

new home - no cats, dogs, rabbits or small animals. This way there’s more love for me. I’m passionate about playing ball and also love Nyla bones. I’m craving a safe and loving forever home where we can go out for long walks and play. If you have kids please bring them with you to meet me so they can fall in love with me as easily as you will. I did have surgery on one of my legs and am well now, but

to prevent further problems I take a supplement to keep my knees in good working order. Sometimes my eyes get a little weepy, but it’s not really a big deal – we just get some eye drops. With the weather getting warmer it seems like summer will be here before you know it. It’s time to clean up the bikes and get them in the best running condition so we can begin to enjoy what we love

to do most, ride. As you ponder where you want your journey to take you, here are a few suggestions for a great ride. Some of these places you may have heard of and some maybe not, but they are all worth checking out at least once this summer. High up in Northern Maryland, just below the Pennsylvania border, is a giant rock set high atop a mountain overlooking Southern Pennsylvania. Appropriately named High Rock, this site was built in the early 1900s and was used as an observation deck. As part of the Appalachian Trail, it is now used for mountaineering, climbing, and hand gliding. On a clear day, you are offered an incredible view of the valley below and can see as far North as Seven Springs Ski Resort. Sadly this rock is now covered mostly in graffiti, but that doesn’t affect the incredible scenery. North of Thurmont, off PenMar Road, this is a destination well worth visiting. Another great mountain destination is the Mountain House Bar & Grill located in McConnellsburg, Pa. This biker-friendly bar is located at the peak of one of the many mountains you will ride through getting there. With cold beverages, fair priced food, and very sexy waitresses, you will enjoy a nice relaxing day sitting on the back deck taking in the view. The couple of times I’ve been there, I had the pleasure of watching several hand

gliders launch from one of the ramps located out back. This is a bit further away, but time seems to disappear while riding these long curvy mountain roads. If you prefer riding near the water, head to Cambridge, Maryland and check out Hooper’s Island. One of the oldest settled areas in Maryland, Hooper’s Island is a chain of three islands stretching

20 miles. With the Chesapeake Bay on one side, the Honga River on the other, and abundant wildlife, this is a very pleasant ride to enjoy on a hot summer day. While you’re already there, be sure to check out the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge also located in Cambridge. The Refuge is host to the largest breeding population of bald eagles on the west coast. Before calling it a day, be sure to stop in and grab a bite to eat at the Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Hurlock, Maryland. Originally a wooden

bridge built around 1888, it has been the scene of many suicides since its beginning. The locals are always quick with a story about how the bridge got its name. The food is good, and the people are very friendly and always quick with a joke or a tale or two. ride becomes overwhelming, we all jump on the bikes and head down to the season’s first rallyof the year, OC Bikes to the Beach. What started just three years ago as a small kick start to the season has become a mainevent in itsownright.Youcould not have asked for a better starttotheridingseason.Ihaveto admit the days leading up to the rally did not hold much hope and most likely chased a few of you off, but when the time came Mother Nature smiled down and said Let’s Ride! She provided three 70 degree days to enjoy all the day’s events and cool nights for all the parties put on by the many sponsor throughout the town, just for us, the Biker Community.Gettingback to theevents,youwouldfirsthavetostartat the

Rally Headquarters, Hooper’s Crab House. They say that the third time’s thecharmandwith the turnout thisyear, Iwouldhave tosay that is right on point. What else could you ask for in a rally? All weekend you had Michele behind the main bar with her bar backs makingsure thebeerwascoldandthedrinkswereflowing.Themusic acts this year were top notch and had us rocking through out theweekend.Andhowabout theHarleyDrillTeam? by watching them all weekend. They tried to get me out there, but Iwatchedthemlaytheirbikesdownafewtimes.NoWay,wasIgoing to let that happen, that would have been a whole other show! Either way, what an amazing show those guys put on.

Let’s not forget the vendor line-up as well. More like a biker’s supermarket. You hadeverything from sunglasses and jewelry, to portable hot tubs and hanging swings. Let’s not forget, all the leather and patches you could ever need, and what biker doesn’t need another t-shirt? There were hundreds available for the choosing from the main event tees to shirts from several different vendors offering their own designs and styles. Not to mention the Lil bag O donuts and the Famous Daytona Belly Buster. This burger has it all, 2 ¼ lb beef patties, a lot of bacon,

4slicesofcheese,andtwoeggs.Itwasgood,butitwasnaptimewhen we were done.

Finally after all that, there is still the most important part left. Thunder Roads Magazine MD-DE-DC OC Bikes to the Beach 2013 Bike Show. We had over twenty bikes enter, and everybody liked the custom painted helmets from Premier Collision Customs as the trophies. We divided everyone up into four categories; Custom, Bagger, Metric, and Classic. Everyone that entered was given a ballot to vote on who won each category and the Best in

Show. John Mayoral from Centerville, MD. with his 2002 Pearl White Road King Classic took 11 out of 24 votes in the best of show category. The Best in Show winner is featured on the cover and calendar of this month’s magazine.

A short ride down 50 took us to the other great location and sponsor, the Oasis Bar and Grille where Thunder Roads Magazine MD-DE-DC held our own bikini contest Saturday night. Some of you,I’msure,havealreadybecomequitefamiliarwith the winner Tori, who is on the cover and calendar of this month’s edition. Congratulations to Tori and thanks to all the other contestants that signedup for thecontest. Ifyoumissedoutonthe Oasis this spring then you missed out on the awesome bands and the mechanical bull. The Bull put on quite the show for the guys by tossing around some hot women, and leaving most men there wishing they were the bull.

Friday was also a night for the record books forusatThunderRoadsMagazineMD-DE-DC.Idon’tthinkitwaspossibleforustofitmorepeoplethan we had at the 28th street Pit & Pub. Chief and Horsey the owners, put out the welcome mat for us and all of our readers and we had one hell of a party. As always those guys welcomed the biker community with cold beers and I have tosaythebestribsinOceanCity.I’msurethebarsaround the Pit n Pub took notice. Look for us to be taking over more bars in Ocean City in the fall.

What’s going on man? Not too much. I’m doing great, glad you asked!

What have you been up to these days? Just trying to stay busy. I’m working full time and riding and training as much as I can.

What kind of bikes are you currently racing? I currently have two bikes. Honda CRF450F, Yamaha YZ250.

Could you give me a quick summary of your career up to this point from amateur to pro? I started racing when I was 6, I made it to Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Nationals 14 consecutive years. I’ve had one top 5 and several top 10 finishes there. Not to mention numerous MD, PA, & DE State Championships. I turned PRO when I was 17, I raced Pro Arena-cross for 3 years before my accident and I finished overall 6th in 2008, 4th in 2009, and 2nd in 2010.

Tell me about your foot injury, so amazing you are able to still ride… Long story, while training at Georgia Practice Facility (GPF)

for the upcoming 2011 Arena-Cross season, I suffered a traumatic foot injury, shattering my heel in 44 places with compound fractures and etc. I went through several reconstructive surgeries and lots of therapy to get where I am today. I’d like to thank my last surgeon Dr. Lew Schon at Union Memorial Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Baltimore MD, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be riding at all today.

Who inspired you as a kid to get into motocross? My dad and my older brother Jeff. Jeff used to race and he taught me everything I know about riding a dirt bike.

What’s your favorite track and/or event to race? Loretta Lynn’s for sure. It’s a great racing environment everyone is so focused and it is all around and awesome place to be.

What stands out to you as the most memorable moment in your racing career? It would absolutely be my 2nd overall Arena Cross Championship finish.

What kind of advice could you give a kid today that has interest in motocross? What advice for the parent? If you are going to do it make sure you are focused, dedicated and prepared to travel. Parents take it easy on your kids, you have to keep the sport fun.

iconX was formed in the early parts of 2007 and was based on just the basic yearning and love to create original music. iconX is Metal melodic electronic rhythmic

structuring harmony and many deep emotional attachments: To say that IconX is an exciting band to see would be an understatement. THIS band brings to you more than just a live performance they bring a unique brand of music then anything we have heard before. It’s hard to place them in a certain genre but if we were to give them a title it would be under the ROCK / MESMERIZED section. The 1st time we had the pleasure to see them perform we were an instant fan. Throughout their melodic and theatrical rock style performance there was 1 song which stood out to us and stayed imbedded in our heads the entire night. At the end of the their set we had a chance to speak with them and had a chance to mention how much we enjoyed that one particular song of course then finding out the title of that song was JUMP. We explained to them why it was we were so drawn to the song which sparked up a long conversation giving us even more opportunity to get to know the band on a more personal level. After a few months had passed and as we drew nearer to Local Injections Cinco De Metal Show for which we invited IconX to perform it was told to us they decided to add the song JUMP to the CD as prior to our input they had originally planned a CD without it and asked if we would release the single JUMP all based on our opinion of the song needless to say we felt honored they would ask of us to do so based on our opinions but don’t be mislead..... their play set contains many more of their originals that we also thoroughly enjoyed, WE THE PEOPLE, DONT NEED YOUR GOD, RITUAL, are just a few of this bands best and most original songs and can be heard on http://www.reverbnation.com/iconxband. Wow! What a time we had at the 2013 S p r i n g Bikes to the Beach rally. It was great getting to hang out with some of you. In the future, if you’re gonna to come

to these events and hang out with me, I only have one rule; You need to bring more SHINE! It’s damn hard work doing these shows and it always goes a little better with a lot of Shine. Just saying! Try it yourself.

If you came by the Thunder Roads booth at Hooper’s you know we were next to the parking lot. The Daytona Harley Davidson drill team performed numerous times there during the event. By the end of the weekend I came to really admire their skill and confidence on their bikes. I wanted to find out a little bit more about them. I invited them on the porch and pulled a jug out and started talking to them. WARNING- I am a professional, do not try this at home. It takes years of practice to sit in a rocking chair, sippin, and talking at the same time. I sat down with Roger White and Dan Vassalo two of the elite drill team riders that travel the country promoting motorcycle safety.

The drill team was formed in May of 1994. They make themselves available for functions such as charity runs, nursing homes and convalescent facilities, Parades, conferences, rally’s or conventions both in the motorcycle community as well as the general population. It’s their hope that this positive and safe image of motorcycles will provide an alternative picture for those not previously familiar with the sport of motorcycling. They have more than 300 years of riding experience between them. So let’s spend a few minutes with Roger and Dan.

hB- Roger, how did this team come about?

rW-In 1994, Bruce Rossmeyer had just purchased the Daytona Harley Davidson dealership and he wanted to do something different. This team is what he came up with to promote the dealership as well as motorcycle safety and rider skills.

hB- How many members are on the team and how does someone go about joining?

DV- There are 11 members on the team right now. If you want to get on the team, you have to come and ride with us every Friday night at 6:30pm. After you’ve been riding with us for 3 or 4 months the team will vote and decide if you can join.

Once you’re voted on the team, you get all the accessories and team gear. And from that point on, you can go on the road.

hB-Paid Gig? Are you guys getting paid?

rW- No, we volunteer! Of course, they pay for our expenses when we travel the country to do shows.

hB- How many different events will you each go to this year?

rW- I will go to at least 6 events this year. The team will do maybe 10 or 12.

DV- I’m going to try and go to every event the team does this year.

hB- What’s the most important message you want the bikers to take away from one of your shows?

DV- Just to think about safety when you’re out there on the road. To give them a few ideas and to be safe on the road. Like being able to make a U-turn without taking 14 lanes to do it.

hB- During your show you dropped a bike and showed everyone how to pick it up. You even had a young lady come up and pick it up .It got a good reaction here, how is that received other places?

rW-We have been doing that for about 6 years and that was another one of Bruce’s ideas. He was selling more and more bikes to women and needed to help them get some confidence. Remember not everyone goes to the safety course so we bring the safety course to them.

hB- Are there any places this summer where the whole team will be at, so our readers could come and catch your show?

rW- We’ve been to Panama City, Iowa, Sturgis, mainly the big rallies because we need at least 250 ft. for the show.

hB- Will you be back for the fall rally here in Ocean City?

DV- Yes, I plan on coming back this fall.

oil & filter changeThis month we’ll cover something most of us do. It’s the logical first step in maintaining the bike. Head to the bike shop and pick up the parts you’ll need. When ya get home clean up a space to work and get the tools together. You should do the oil change on a warm (not hot) engine so at the least start the bike and let it idle for a few minutes. Be sure to provide adequate ventilation while the bike runs. The instructions here are for a well know American V-Twin but with a few exceptions will work with almost any bike. If you have the factory service manual your set no matter who made your ride.First thing to do is consult the manual for the location of the drain bolt. Slide the receptacle for the oil under the bike, remove the drain plug and let it fly. Careful you’d be surprised how hot oil gets. While that’s draining remove the filter. I like to put 4 ounces of fresh oil in the filter as recommended by The Motor Company. Check the drain plug for a crush washer or o-ring (that you picked up at the bike shop) and install the new one. Always use a new one it just ain’t worth the hassle of a leak or stripped threads from using old parts that are cheap. I like to use Permatex thread sealant on the drain plugs. This is also the reason the drain plug is one of the few places I don’t use a torque wrench. The Teflon in the sealant is a lubricant and changes the torque requirement. I just tighten using feel developed over the years. Choose your own method here just be sure it’s not too tight or loose.Now that all that’s taken care of install the new filter and fill with the proper amount (see manual) of fluid. I like to fire the bike up and watch the oil lamp go out before taking a test ride to warm the oil and distribute it through the engine. After a few mile road test I verify level and check for any leaks. If that’s all good it’s clean up time. Please take your used oil to a proper disposal site. If you don’t know where call your shop and ask if they’ll take it. Many will. I’d like to take this time to talk about oil drain intervals a bit. The old days of 3,000 miles are gone. Many manufacturers recommend 4K miles or more now days. If you really want to find out how your motor is doing and how well the oil you choose is working have the oil tested. It’s not too expensive (especially when you think about what a rebuild costs) and very informative. I use Blackstone Labs. They take about a week or so and the results are e-mailed. Take a look on the ‘net for them or others who’ll test for you. Think about what the oil costs and the above mentioned rebuilds and it makes sense.Well that’s it for now. a Great (lake) Weekit’s

if you live in the Midwest, you like me wait and wait for riding season to begin. i try to ride all year when possible, but no matter how tough you think you are, you aren’t riding in feet of snow and 10 below. As i write this for the May edition of tro, it’s still mid April. Last weekend it was above 60 degrees and we had a great ride, and earlier this week it peaked above 80 for one day. What screwy weather patterns we have now a days. i remember as a kid growing up in the 70’s we had a pretty standard weather pattern and seasons. Any more who knows from one month to the next? We have a club ride planned this weekend, and of course the high is supposed to be 50, and it will dip into the high 30’s when the sun goes down. Wonderful.

i figured this month i’d get on board with promoting ohio Bike Week in sandusky ohio May 31st through June 9th 2013. if you’re reading this in ohio or surrounding states you don’t want to miss the chance to visit this event. it has grown so much in the past several years. As you’ve probably seen the promotions in our latest editions of tro Magazine, there is a phenomenal line up of entertainment as always. this year there’s Queensryche, skid row, Drowning pool, Blackberry smoke, of course the one and only JAcKyL with Jesse James Dupree as well as many great smaller venues throughout the week! Last year being unemployed at the time i was able to go up for the entire week and help out at the tro booths. it was exhausting but a lot of fun. My club Brothers Moonshine, redneck and scoot helped work security at our tro thunder Zone, and hell we only had to throw out a few drunks. Not bad for an entire week! Moonshine and i worked with Jackyl and Jesse at the Vip Jesse James Dupree Whiskey tasting, as well as his charity poker run last year. it was cool to meet him and the guys from Jackyl. Aside from that we got to hang out with some other great clubs and met some new friends. We stayed at camp sandusky in a cabin and it wasn’t too bad. We worked 10-12 hours a day, partied into the early morning and then got up and did it again. i was pretty worn out after 7 days of that! i wish i could go this year for the entire week again, but alas i re-joined you working stiffs and got a full time J-o-B.. i hate it.

i will be up there on the last saturday June 8th, so maybe i’ll see you at one of our booths! stop by and say howdy and of course pick up the official ohio Bike Week guide as printed in this edition. We always have extra copies for you! plus don’t miss us this year at tro

thunder Zone. this year we will be starting off at the comfort inn on Milan (route 250). i know the tro gang will put together a bunch of fun for you all. i heard rumor of a bikini party there too. Looks like i’ll be stopping

for sure! then i’m heading down to join the crew at our downtown booth, on the pier. From what i understand, the downtown tro thunder Zone is playing host to a Bike show and is smack dab in the middle of everything.

if you’ve never been to ohio Bike week i highly suggest the trip. there are so many affordable hotels to stay at if even for one night. the vendors have anything and everything any biker could want. My ole Lady bought some great hD sandals a few years ago, and i always find one or two things to spend my money on. the food is awesome of course. Now if when you’re in the Downtown area, typically out across the street on the waterfront, looks for the Dans Deli Food trailer. Wendy and her family are from my hometown and she feeds me regular late night meals all season, as well as at ohio Bike Week, Wetzel, and many other venues! she fed pretty much the entire tro thunder Zone crew last year! As well there are so many great little bars and places to grab a bite while out riding the lakefront. And i don’t want to forget the Bikes! it’s all about the bikes! it’s like a Free Bike show. you will see so many cool rides, paint schemes and accessories!

so the Bike Festival season officially kicks off with the first BiG Midwest event at ohio Bike Week. it’s our time folks, so get out and getcha some! it will be a Great Week; i hope to meet you there!

i have chosen this name for our monthly recipe page, as that was what my mother, rest her soul, always used to say when I would assist her in the kitchen. mom was an avid supporter of the kiss (keep it simple sweetie) method of cooking. i now, more than ever, truely appreciate her philosophy of always taking shortcuts where you can, as long as your ultimate outcome is that of down home, labor of love cooking.

BLEU CHEESE & CRISPY BACON GUACAMOLE

3 Ripe Avocados; remove pit and scoop guac. into a medium, glass mixing bowl1/2 Small Red Onion; minced fine1 Small Jalapeno (seeds & rib removed; unless you like it REALLY hot!2 Tbls. of Lime Juice and zest alsoSalt & Pepper to taste 3 Tbls. of chopped Cilantro (*optional) 1/2 Can of drained, petite diced tomatoes or real 1 Heaping Tbls. of Real Mayonnaise or Sour Cream *optional - some people prefer the strong taste of the Guacamole and more chunky, not creamy1/2 Pound of Crispy Bacon; chopped into chunks1/2 Cup of Crumbled Bleu CheeseAs I’ve told you many times in the past; do not getyourself splattered and your stovetop a mess. Simply take a cookie pan with a wire cooling rack that fits it and lay your bacon out in strips; horizontally. Put into a 425 degree, pre-heated oven and let them cook for 15 minutes. Turn the light on to check howcrispy but don’t keep opening door as lets out too much heat. Let them go till good and crispy. If you take them out and not crispy enough; turn them over and stick them back in for 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and then chop into chunks. No muss, no fuss. Save your grease as some cooks like to or pour into a can or container already in your garbage pail. This method works so good and you’ll never fry bacon again. Mix all the ingredients together first and then at the end, add your bacon and bleu cheese and mix in lightly. If you love bleu cheese and guacamole, this is totally aces! And who the hell doesn’t like bacon? I mean, that’s just whacked! This dip is addictive.

WINGS, WANGS.......IT’S A CHICKEN THANG! 3 Lbs. of chicken wings4 Cups of Peanut Oil - Heated HOT!Roll all your chicken in a rub of: Salt & Pepper to taste, 1 tsp. sugar, 1 Tbl. Smoked Paprika, Juice of 2 Limes and Lime Zest & 1/2 Cup Olive Oil. Really get in there and rub that chicken all over and coat every single piece. Place all in a big plastic bag, or two and marinate in the fridge for 1-2 hours. If you’re just itchin’ to go, then heat your oil and get on with it.

Be sure and place your oil in a deep pot. If you have one of those fry machines with the basket, you got it made. Fry up your chicken golden brown and then mix up the below listed ingredients in a big bowl and roll your fried chicken in it and again, make sure you get every single piece totally coated. 1/2 Sriracha (pronounced Siracha)in the Mexican aisle of any grocery store1 Tbls. of Apple Cider Vinegar2 Tbls Honey (add more if think needs it)Juice of 1/2 Lime & ZestHeat all these Wing/Wang Sauce and then add your wings and cluck away baby....cluck away. Serve hot, right out of the frying pot into the sauce bowl and onto the serving platter. Serve up with a big bowl of Bleu Cheese dressing or Ranch dressing and remember....wings aint good unless you’re wearin’ them all over your face!

ICE-CREAM BALLS ROLLED IN FROSTEDFLAKES & TOASTED COCONUT

1 Gallon of High-Quality Vanilla Ice Cream(you should do a test run on this and determine if 1 gallon gets you enough ice-cream balls to feed your guests)Let ice-cream set out for just about 5 minutesTake a regular ice-cream scoop; preferably one with a release leverScoop a good solid ball; get in there and get one that’s all ice-cream and no airLay them out onto a cookie sheet that’s been lined in Saran wrap so they won’t stickScoop them out fast and lay them on the sheet and get them into the freezer FAST!!!!Let them freeze up for just one hourTake 2 Cups of Frosted Flakes cereal (they’re grrrrrrrrrreat!) put them in a gallon plastic bagand push out all the air and take a rolling pin or bottom of a small pan and crunch up. Then, take 2 cups of toasted coconut (regular coconut spread out on a cookie sheet and cook at 325 until browned all over) Take your ice-cream balls out of freezer, roll them in combined flakes & coconut until every inch covered and then freeze again for 1 hour. These are un-freakin’ real! Damn, I want some now. Back to the kitchen.
