GUEST EDITORIAL Thoughts from the Chair You will notice that this is a new venture for us as your Association in there being a regular slot for the Chair of the NNA to write to you all. We have seen the successful relaunch of our Journal after five years with our publishers and following discussion with our members and we hope you are as pleased with the new look and content of the journal as we are. We hope we have addressed most of the issues you have raised with us to make the journal what you want. We have been able to finally introduce Direct debit payments for members subscriptions and we have our Treasurer Cath Holder to thank for her hard work and dedication in taking this enormous project forward. Details of this can be found on our website www.nna.org.uk or contact Dee Beresford our Executive officer email is [email protected] It has been another busy year so far for the world of neonatal care as I am sure you are all aware. We have seen the publication of the first endorsed Dept of Health Neonatal Taskforce Prin- ciples which will have paved the way hopefully for us to begin to realise our ambitions to provide 1:1 care for our most vulnerable members of society and also to recognise that caring for these babies requires the full engagement of our allied health professional colleagues. We continue to work closely with our colleagues at BLISS and BAPM in seeking the best for our profession even in these lean times. Following the publication of these principles we were informed that NICE were going to produce standards for Neonatal care as one of the four areas they work on each year. We await news of how that work is progressing and what the impli- cations for us will be. I am privileged to be representing you all at the International Neonatal Nurses Conference to be held Durban, South Africa in October of this year where I am sure there will be plenty of networking and renewing old acquaintances and making new friends. Report and pictures will follow on my return. If you wish to contact me for any reason my contact details are available on the website and I look forward to hearing from you. Until next time.
