Nine years! We can’t believe how Thought Bubble has grown since it began in the basement of Leeds Town Hall in 2007. Last year’s festival was
bigger than ever, and we had so many exciting projects and events going on. This year we’ve got some of our awesome regular events such as the British Comic Awards, our huge book crossing where we deliver stacks of free comics to local libraries, Comics Forum and of course our two-day mega convention. There’s a bunch of great new things going on too! Like our month-long exhibition of Joan Cornellà’s darkly fun works at The Gallery at Munro House - his first in the UK! We’re continuing to celebrate the diversity of comics with a Mental Health-themed comics event, and we’re expanding on the Rainbow Age book club - our LGBTQ* event run in partnership with Leeds Central Library and Travelling Man.
Our centrepiece event as always is the Thought Bubble comic convention which will take place over two days on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November in three of Leeds’ largest exhibition halls - New Dock Hall, Royal Armouries Hall, and the specially-constructed Thought Bubble Marquee, which was a welcome addition to 2014’s festival, allowing us to bring you even more amazing comics and art than ever! We’ve curated a fantastic line-up of local and international guests, comprising artists and writers whose incredible work shows the true diversity of comic book and graphic novel story-telling. The convention will also be filled with hundreds of exhibitors from around the world; from self-published artists and writers to the best retailers in the country.
As we approach Thought Bubble’s tenth anniversary we want to thank you, our attendees, for helping to make each event so special and a total pleasure to bring to you! Whether you’re a curious first-time visitor, a cosplay enthusiast or a comics connoisseur, we look forward to welcoming you to our biggest and best festival to date.

As part of Thought Bubble 2015, in partnership with Leeds Inspired, step inside your favourite stories or make your own! See photo booths like no other as you join superheroes, tackle mad scientists, or become them!
Working with artist Tom Eglington who created last year’s Kodama Woods project, with assistance from students at Leeds College of Art, Get Into Comics is a series of interactive booths that allows you to enter into an oversized comic panel and create your own story. Classic war stories, smokey detective noir mysteries, shadowy graveyard horror and action packed superhero scenes - there’ll be something for everyone!
Look out for our comic boxes across Leeds in October and at the Thought Bubble convention on 14-15 November at Leeds Dock.
Upload photos and videos to Twitter, Instagram and Vine with the #GetIntoComics and #TBF15 hashtags - the best entries will win prizes donated by Travelling Man Stores!
The Get Into Comics project was made possible by a generous grant from Leeds Inspired, an initiative of Leeds City Council that funds cultural projects that create high quality, accessible cultural experiences for Leeds’ residents and visitors alike.

The last 15 years has seen a boom in the UK graphic arts and illustration industry, with a DIY scene emerging and prospering alongside new and affordable leaps in technology.
So much of our lives is now spent in the virtual digital realm, so what will become of the tactile objects we all hold so dear? Will we see books disappear in our
2120
lifetime? And why are more and more creatives moving away from the computer and getting back to using their hands to create art, both commercially and for art’s sake?
Made You Look is a documentary which sets out to explore the landscape of the commercial arts in the 21st Century. It’s a film that gives an insight into how modern creative people feel about the challenges and triumphs of living in a hyper digital age.
This film is a rare and candid insight into the work of some of the UK’s top creative talent, including beautifully shot footage of artists at work and play in their own creative environments.
