Dear Parents and Guardians,
PARENT OPINION SURVEY RESULTS
During third term, a random selection of 72 TPS families were given the opportunity to respond
to the annual DET Parent Opinion Survey. We would like to thank the 19 families that took this
opportunity to provide feedback to the TPS staff on the educational experiences we are providing
for your children.
What do our results say?
The graphs on the next few pages have a horizontal black line on each column graph. The
black line on each column shows you the result we had last year. In most instances the 2018
black line is in a similar position to the 2019 result. We have made small improvements in
some areas and declined slightly in others.
The most dramatic improvement was in the ‘non-experience’ of bullying category. 74% of
our parents reported that their child had not been bullied recently at school as compared to
the 2018 result of only 38%.
The greatest drop in results was in the ‘school environment’ category which dropped by
16%. This question relates specifically to the cleanliness of the classrooms and school
grounds.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY
On Friday 25th October, schools around Australia celebrated World Teachers’ Day. At Thomastown PS we celebrated
with a special Morning Tea as a token of appreciation for everything that our teachers do to support the education and
wellbeing of the children in our care. World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work of our
teachers. I’d like to thank all our teachers for their continued hard work and dedication.
