I ecently had the opportunity to "shoot the bu 1" with some of ouryounger airmen an d to my su prise, found out they d dn't u derst dthe necessity of making it" when we get a recall

All admitted they shaved before leaving home. Some said they eventook showers to "wake u " I shuddered!

These young guys were not purposely scre ing up; they s mply havenever been nformed of the necessity of getting here just as quicklyas possible after the phonecall.

Please allow his old t mer to reminess a moment: In he old days,we set brass and n metags on shirts the minute we got the clothingback from the cleane s; We even threaded the belt in the pants beforeh ging the un form in the closet. Shoes were poli.s

When typing a single copy, typists often inse a second piece of paperas "backup" to red ce the cutting action of the typewriter keys. At a casu-al gla ce, the b kup sheet still appears cle when t e typi g is finished, but a closer look ill show that the type riter keys have left an impressionon the paper. Rubbing the paper with a pencil makes the text legible. Ifthe original contained classified info ation, the backup sheet reveals thesame info ation d m st be destroyed as classified wa te.

The same haza d exists when a pad of notepaper is used: the first orsecond sheets below the top may retain n i pression revealing the info a-tion written on the top sheet. Obviou ly, all carbon paper used in prepar-ing ultiple c pies of classified do ents m st also be destro yed as clas-sified waste.
