having a pulled pork fundraiser lunch next Sunday
right after the service (Mar. 4). All funds donated
will be receipted and will go towards covering
costs for the trip. For more specific details on trip
costs, check out our Missions Trip Bulletin Board.
Lunch is by donation...come one, come all and
enjoy good food and good fellowship.
2. WEMMC Membership 101 – Sunday, Mar. 4, 7:00 p.m.
in the Church Chapel. If Winkler EMMC has become
your church home, you are invited to become a
member. This evening session is for those who have
been baptized and want to become a member and also for those who
wish to transfer their membership from another church. During this
evening we will discuss the beliefs, policies, and opportunities of
Winkler EMMC as well as answer questions you may have. Please
bring your Bible to this session. Please sign up for this evening at the
‘sign up table’ in the foyer. Also pick up your application for
membership at this table and have the application completed and
with you on March 4. For further information, contact Pastor Loren
or call Lydia at the church office, 325-7667.
3. More volunteers are needed to work at the Winkler MCC Thrift Shop
on the first Thursday of each month with others from our congre-
gation. There are two shifts, either 9-1 or 1-5. if interested call Anna
Heide at 204-325-8552.
4. Candice Bergen is asking churches to respond to the latest Federal
Government restriction on religious freedom in Canada. The Govern-
ment has put restrictions on those trying to access the Canada
Summer Jobs program. Organizations that apply for funding must fill
out an application that requires agreement to respect the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms on issues like reproductive rights
(abortion), and other matters. If the applying group morally disagrees
and does not mark the appropriate box on the application affirma-
tively, the application process will not let those applying to proceed
with the rest of the application. As a church it is important that we
remind our Federal Government that this unfairly targets those who
disagree with it on moral matters like abortion. A letter from Candice
outlining the issue and suggestions for response is available on the
signup table in the foyer.
5. Pick up your Annual Congregational Minutes on the pillars in the
foyer.
6. Parents of senior high students are invited to pick up
a copy of the latest edition of The Inside Scoop at the
Christian Education News bulletin board in the foyer
or view it on the church website under “Resources”.
Stay informed and be empowered to continue faith conversations
with your teens at home!
7. 2018 WEMMC Directories are available in the church office during the
week. Payment will be accepted for directories not already paid for.
Cost is $10. per copy.
8. Pastor Tim is looking for volunteers to make snack for youth nights.
If you sign up, you will be contacted periodically throughout the year
and in advance of the day you are asked to make a snack. If you are
willing to take part in the youth ministry in this way, please sign up in
the foyer to talk to Pastor Tim.

1. The Women of Worth (WOW) group will be studying Phil.4:6-7 with
Max Lucado beginning Oct. 15-Nov. 19. Max Lucado invites readers
into a study of Phil. 4:6-7 where the Apostle Paul admonishes the fol-
lowers of Christ, “Do not be anxious about anything…”. What’s he
suggesting? That we should literally be anxious for absolutely
nothing? Lucado says, “The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the
prison of anxiety is optional. It’s the life of perpetual anxiety that Paul
wants to address. Don’t let anything in life leave you perpetually in
angst.” With God's help you will learn to face the calamities of life.
You’ll learn how to talk yourself off the ledge. Under the guidance of
the Holy Spirit, you will learn to view bad news through the lens of
sovereignty; to discern the lies of Satan and tell yourself the truth. You
will manifest a gentleness that is evident to others. Anxiety comes
with life. But it doesn’t have to dominate your life.” To join the study,
please sign up before Mar. 5, with Marg Peters by calling 325-9051 or
by email at [email protected] if you would like to attend
and if you have not yet signed up. If you have any questions, please
contact Marg Peters-325-9051 or Susan Enns-325-9610.
