This past Monday Penny McCulloch led a team that helped process these campers here on our campus. Because these are critically ill children ages 8-18, processing takes an especially long time as medication and other medical needs are communicated. For some, this will be the first time they have been away from their family. This coming Saturday, July 23, the campers will be returning and processed again here at Christ Church. Lenore Lovoi will be hosting their return. If you would like to help please contact Lenore at [email protected] or be here between 11am and 2pm.

St. Dorothy’s Rest Summer Campers This week at Christ Church we are hosting campers on their way to and then on their way home from St. Dorothy’s Rest Summer Camp. Dear Christ Church Community: There are many great things about Christ Church, one of which is that we are a multigenerational and intergenerational church. Church is one of the few places outside of our own personal families where multiple generations gather and participate in the lives of each other — where nonfamily members invest their time, money and energy into the spiritual growth and well-being of our children. We are being intentional about being intergenerational, which means creating space and opportunities for people of various generations to communicate in meaningful ways, to interact on a regular basis, to learn from each other, and to minister and serve together regularly. Your thoughts and ideas about how we can cultivate this core value are welcome.

One of our parishioners, ten-year-old Annie Pflaum, has proposed the following project. Annie and her friends created the project and call it A Helping Hand. Like the disciples in Luke 10, she and one of her friends will visit in pairs those who welcome them. They will provide company or help with some household chores. Below is the information sheet. For the initial launch of this program, her services are being offered to our members who live in the Sequoias, the Vi, etc., or who are otherwise homebound. Arrangements can be made for a visit through Annie’s mother, Courtney Kingston Pflaum 415-272-6030. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn each other’s stories and share in one another’s lives.

Blessings, Beth

The Lord’s Prayer from The New Zealand Prayer Book Eternal Spirit,

Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver, Source of all that is and that shall be,

Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!

The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world! Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!

Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.

With the bread we need for today, feed us.

In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us. In times of temptation and testing, strengthen us.

From trials too great to endure, spare us. From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and forever. Amen.

The Prayer To Our Father (translated into first century Aramaic)

Abwûn "Oh Thou, from whom the breath of life comes, d'bwaschmâja who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration. Nethkâdasch schmach May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest. Têtê malkuthach. Your Heavenly Domain approaches. Nehwê tzevjânach aikâna d'bwaschmâja af b'arha. Let Your will come true - in the universe (all that vibrates) just as on earth (that is material and dense). Hawvlân lachma d'sûnkanân jaomâna. Give us wisdom (understanding, assistance) for our daily need, Waschboklân chaubên wachtahên aikâna daf chnân schwoken l'chaijabên. detach the fetters of faults that bind us, (karma) like we let go the guilt of others. Wela tachlân l'nesjuna Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations), ela patzân min bischa. but let us be freed from that what keeps us off from our true purpose. Metol dilachie malkutha wahaila wateschbuchta l'ahlâm almîn. From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act, the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age. Amên. Sealed in trust, faith and truth.
