1 FORT WORTH, Texas - Following competition at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships two weeks ago, 25 Flyin' Frogs will take the next step in postseason action by traveling to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to compete at the 2008 NCAA Midwest Regional. "It is an exciting time of year and we are really excited about the numbers we are taking to Lincoln. We expect big things this weekend, which will allow us to take our shot at an NCAA title," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "The competition is going to be tough and that is the part that really excites me. We are looking forward to the challenge. Overall, I feel good about the possibility that lies ahead us. We just have to take care of business in Lincoln." The two-day meet begins Friday afternoon at Ed Weir Stadium on the campus of the University of Nebraska. The Midwest Region includes 42 Division I institutions and 33 ath- letes that have hit the Olympic `A' standard. Fans unable to attend the Midwest Regional can watch the regional live as the University of Nebraska will be providing a free live video stream of all the action this weekend. Live results can also be viewed online at www.gofrogs.com. TCU comes into the regional following a solid showing at the 2008 MWC Championships. Overall, TCU posted 25 NCAA regional qualifying marks, won 15 of the 27 events, set a new St. Kitts national record and recorded two new meet records on the final day of competition in Fort Worth. What's At Stake In Lincoln In order to qualify for the NCAA Championships, individuals must place in the top five at NCAA regionals (East, Mideast, Midwest, West), while relay teams must finish in the top three. Individuals or relay teams not placing in the top five or top three, respectively, can still make the field at the NCAA Championships by finishing within the top 12 in each event based on the final national descending order list compiled by the NCAA. The 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place June 11-14 at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Friday's Schedule TCU will open competition this week in Lincoln on Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's javelin and the women's long jump. Preliminary running events will begin on the track at 1:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100, while the men's 4x100 unit will open action at 1:45 p.m. The Flyin' Frogs will return at 3 p.m. with the men's 110-meter hurdle prelims. The women and men's 100- meter prelims will follow at 3:20 p.m. and 3:40 p.m., respectively. Beginning at 4 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., the women and men's 400-meter dash prelims will take to the track, while the 400- meter hurdles will begin at approximately 5:20 p.m. with the women's prelims. Following hur- dle action, TCU will close the sprints on the first-day of competition with the men and women's 200 meter prelims. Women will open up at 6 p.m., while the men will start at 6:20 p.m. The Flyin' Frogs will end the day with the finals of the men's 5,000 meters. Breaking Down TCU TCU will have representatives in eight events on the women's side and 11 events on the men's side, as well as all four relays. Virgil Hodge will represent the Flyin' Frogs in three events. The St. Kitts native will run in the 100, 200 and the 4x100 relay. Participating in the women's triple and long jump will be Neidra Covington and JimAnne Hejny, while Hodge and Brittany Blaylock will represent TCU in the 100 meters. Kishelle Paul and Meaghan Peoples will take to the track in the women's 400-meter hurdles, while Jessica Clarke, who dominat- ed the MWC Championships, will don the Purple and White in the 400 meters. TCU will have two representatives in the women's shot put as both Candis Kelley and Stormy Harrison, the nation's No. 1 freshman thrower, will compete in finals action on Friday. On the men's side, both Andon Mitchell and Justyn Warner will compete in the men's 100 meters, while freshman Jordan Pitts will be TCU's lone representative in the 110-meter hur- dles. In the men's 400, Matthew Love and Dell Guy will compete, while Aaron Macklin, who collected a regional qualifying mark two weeks ago, will begin action in the men's 400-meter hurdles. TCU will have three representatives in the 100 meters with Otis McDaniel, Mychal Dungey and Clemore Henry all competing. Festus Kigen will close TCU athletes in the run- ning events by taking to the track in the 5,000 meters. In the field events, seniors Jonathan Jackson and Joe Brown will compete in the triple jump and javelin, respectively. Finally, Tommy Killen will hope to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA's in the men's discus. Darryl Anderson enters his fourth year at the helm of the Flyin' Frog program. A former associate track & field coach at Arizona State University, Anderson was named head track & field coach at TCU after a national search on November 18, 2004. In just three seasons as head coach of the Horned Frogs' program, Anderson has com- bined a tireless work ethic with a tremendous coaching style that has molded TCU into one of the top track and field programs in the country. Anderson's success is clearly displayed in the 21 All-Americans he has coached in his short time at TCU. In 2007, Anderson had seven individuals and all four relay teams compete at the outdoor championships, while one individual and one relay team qualified at the indoor championships. At the outdoor championships, TCU was one of just six schools in the country that had all four relay teams compete. In fact, TCU and LSU are the only schools in the country to have had all four relay teams qualify for the NCAAOutdoor Championships each of the past three seasons (2005, 2006, 2007). Individually last season, TCU's 11 All-America honors were broken down between seven student-athletes. What's At Stake In LincolnIn order to qualify for the NCAA Championships, individuals must place in the top five atNCAA regionals (East, Mideast, Midwest, West), while relay teams must finish in the topthree. Regionals Last SpringLast spring, the Flyin' Frogs qualified seven individuals and both the men's and women's4x100 relay teams for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Individually,Justyn Warner won the region in the 100 meters, while Kishelle Paul set a school recordin the 400-meter hurdles.

Overall, eight of TCU's 12 individuals and two of four relay teams that competed on thefinal day of competition punched their tickets to the championships with automatic quali-fications.

The National RankingsThe Flyin' Frogs men's outdoor track & field team comes into the regional ranked No. 22in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.

The TCU women help round out the women's top 25 at No. 23, led by sprinter VirgilHodge, the nation's fourth-ranked female in the 200 meters. On the men's side, the Flyin'Frogs top ranked individual is triple jumper Jonathan Jackson, the NCAA's No. 2 jumper,while the men's 4x400 unit is ranked seventh overall on the descending order list.

The USTFCCCA Division I indoor track and field rankings are compiled solely from NCAAdescending order lists.

Last Time OutThe TCU men, who entered the final day with only 19 points, finished in second-placewith 192 points, while the Flyin' Frog women ended competition in fourth with 126 pointsat the MWC Championships.

Virgil Hodge closed out her MWC career in style as she clocked a new personal best timeof 11.21 seconds in the 100 meters to claim her third-straight conference outdoor title. Indoing so, Hodge, who set a new St. Kitts national record, broke the meet and complexrecord in the event. Hodge came back later in the day and posted her third-straight out-door 200-meter championship title with a time of 22.94.

On the men's side, the Flyin' Frogs posted the top-three times of the day. Justyn Warnerwon the title by crossing the line in 10.44 seconds, while Otis McDaniel earned runner-up honors by clocking a time of 10.47 seconds. Junior Andon Mitchell closed the TCUscoring by finishing in third-place with a time of 10.55.

In the men's javelin, senior Joe Brown closed his MWC career in winning-fashion, takingthe title on his last attempt in competition. Overall, Brown blasted a throw of 221 feet, 7inches to become only the second Horned Frog ever to win a conference crown in thejavelin, and the first since Wes Ritchey won the Southwest Conference in 1954.

In the women's 400, Clarke won the event title with the fifth-fastest time in championshiphistory. Her blazing regional qualifying time of 52.52 is currently the seventh-fastest timein the nation and ranks in the top-50 in the world standings. Overall, the Flyin' Frogs havenow won the 400 meters for three-straight years.

TCU freshman Jordan Pitts had an outstanding day on the track as he took home boththe 110 and 400-meter hurdle titles. Other highlights on the day included, seniorJonathan Jackson claiming his third career MWC outdoor crown in the men's triple jumpwith a winning leap of 51 feet, 2 ¼ inches. In the relays, TCU dominated as both the menand women claimed the 4x100 and 4x400 titles.

Finally, Stormy Harrison won the women's shot put title with the second longest throw inMountain West Conference Championship history and the best by a freshman this springin the NCAA. No to be outdone, Junior Meaghan Peoples crushed her previous schoolrecord in the women's heptathlon to lead TCU on the first-day of competition.

Flyin' Frogs Represented In World RankingsThe Flyin' Frogs 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 units on the men's side are currently ranked inthe top 60 of the world standings. The 4x100 relay is sitting at No. 52 in the world stand-ings, while the 4x200 unit has the No. 10 ranking in the world. Finally, the 4x400 squadheads into this week with the 16th fastest time in the world. Individually, senior JonathanJackson cracked the top 40 world rankings in the triple jump.

On the women's side, Virgil Hodge has posted the 32nd fastest time in the women's 100and the 22nd fastest in the 200. Both the 4x100 and 4x400 are ranked in the world stand-ings, while Kishelle Paul is also ranked in the women's 400 meter hurdles.

post-season competition remaining. Heading into the regionals, seven different men,including the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, are ranked in the top 15 of the NCAA, while on thewomen's side, four different athletes, including the 4x100 relay, are currently sitting in thetop 15 in the nation.

On the men's side, Jonathan Jackson leads the Flying Frogs at No. 2 overall in the triplejump. Junior Justyn Warner sits at No. 12 in the men's 100 after a solid weekend at theMWC Championships. Senior Otis McDaniel is currently ranked 12th overall in the men's200, while Mychal Dungey is No. 12. Tommy Killen sits at No. 13 in the discus. The men's4x400 is currently the seventh best unit in the nation, while the 4x100 unit is No. 14 in theNCAA.

On the women's side, senior Virgil Hodge currently sits at No. 7 in the women's 100 andNo. 4 in the 200. Jessica Clarke is No. 9 in the women’s 400, while Kishelle Paul leadsall individuals at No. 10 in the women's 400-meter hurdles. TCU's 4x100 relay is current-ly ranked No. 9 in the NCAA, while sophomore Neidra Covington is just outside the top20 with the 18th best jump in the nation in the triple jump.

TCU In The MWCFor the season, TCU had the top mark posted in 13 different events in the MountainWest, including all four relays. All in all, the Purple and White have seven of the top marksposted on the men's side and six for the women.

Overall, the Flyin' Frogs have the top times in the 100, 200, 110m high hurdles, 4x100,4x400, triple jump and long jump on the men's side. The Purple and White women claimthe top spot in the 100, 200, triple jump, 400m hurdles, 4x100 and 4x400.

MWC Honors Again For The Flyin' FrogsTCU senior Jonathan Jackson and sophomore Neidra Covington were selected as theMountain West Conference men's and women's outdoor track and field athletes of theweek following the Penn Relays.

Jackson broke his own school record to win the men's triple jump on Saturday at thePenn Relays. The senior earned College Athlete of the Meet honors for individual eventsafter leaping 54 feet, 3 ¾ inches in the triple jump, as well as capturing the title in the longjump with a mark of 24 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Both are NCAA regional qualifying marks andrank first in the MWC this season. Jackson's triple jump mark is currently the No. 1 jumpin the nation and the third longest leap all-time in MWC history. It is also the 10th longestjump in Penn Relays history. Overall, he became the first TCU track and field athlete everto win both the men's long and triple jump at the Penn Relays. He also became the firstTCU male or female to win a title in the triple jump at Franklin Field. By being namedIndividual College Athlete of the Meet, Jackson became only the second individual inTCU history to be named Individual Athlete of the Meet.

Covington earned runner-up honors in the championship division of the women's triplejump at the Penn Relays, soaring 43 feet, 3 3/4 inches. Her regional qualifying markbroke her own school record, which she set last weekend at the TCU Invitational. Thesophomore currently has the 12th best mark in the NCAA this spring and the top leap inthe Mountain West Conference. It is also the fifth-best jump in the Midwest Region andthird-best leap in MWC history.

Soaring To New Records RevisitedJonathan Jackson broke his own school record again in the men's triple jump by soaring54 feet, 3.75 inches to place first overall at Penn. The senior is currently the No. 1 jumperin the NCAA in 2008. On the women's side, Neidra Covington earned runner-up honorsin the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 3 3/4 inches. Her mark also set a new schoolrecord and is currently the 12th best jump in the nation.

A Historic Day For 4x400 The men's 4x400 unit of Che Chavez, Dell Guy, Clemore Henry and Matthew Lovecrossed the finish line in 3:07.83 to capture the 4x400 title at the Penn Relays. The unitcollected TCU's first title since 2000 and only the second 4x400 title in TCU's prestigioushistory at the Penn Relays. The 3:07.83 is an NCAA regional qualifying mark.

Hodge and Warner Picking Up HonorsTCU junior Justyn Warner and senior Virgil Hodge were selected as the Mountain WestConference men's and women's outdoor track and field athletes of the week on Tuesday.Warner won the 100 meters with a personal best and regional qualifying time of 10.23.He also posted an NCAA regional time of 21.27 seconds in the 200 at the TCUInvitational.

Hodge had a dominating day on the track as she placed first overall in both the 100 and200 meters this past weekend. In the 200 meters, Hodge blazed to a first-place finish withthe fifth fastest time in the world this outdoor season. The senior clocked a regional qual-ifying time of 22.76, which is the second fastest mark in the NCAA in 2008.

In the 100 meters, the St. Kitts native clocked a personal best time of 11.26 to place firstoverall. Her time broke her own St. Kitts national record and currently is the 10th fastesttime in the world. It is also the sixth fastest time in the NCAA and fifth best mark in theMidwest region this season.

Soaring To New RecordsJonathan Jackson broke his own school record in the men's triple jump last weekend bysoaring 53 feet, 7 inches to place first overall. His mark broke his 2006 mark of 53 feetand currently ranks as the 18th best jump in the world. The senior is currently the No. 3jumper in the NCAA in 2008. On the women's side, Neidra Covington won the triple jumpwith a leap of 42 feet, 6 ¾ inches. Her mark also set a new school record and is current-ly the 13th best jump in the nation. The sophomore broke Donna Thomas' 1985 mark of42 feet, 4 inches.

TCU Opens Season Ranked No. 19The TCU women's track and field team opened the 2008 outdoor season in the top 25 ofthe initial national rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross CountryCoaches Association (USTFCCCA). The women lead the way as the Mountain WestConference's highest-ranked team in 19th, while the TCU men come in at 42nd.

Individually, TCU is ranked in the top 25 in 11 different events combined, including all fourrelays.

Flyin’ Frogs Out Of The Blocks Strong With Regional Qualifying MarksThis past weekend, TCU got off to a fast start to its spring season. Sophomore TommyKillen tossed a regional qualifying mark of 179 feet, 2 inches to win the men's discus atthe Horned Frog Invitational.

Last Saturday, TCU members who earned NCAA regional qualifying marks on the men'sside were the men's 4x100, Che Chavez (400 meters), Otis McDaniel (100 meters),Andon Mitchell (100 meters), Justyn Warner (100 meters) and Mychal Dungey (200meters). On the women's side, the 4x100, Kishelle Paul (100-meter hurdles) and CandisKelley (shot put) earned NCAA regional qualifying marks.

Hodge To Be Featured On BBCTCU sprinter Virgil Hodge will be featured on the British Broadcasting Company (BBC)world service radio throughout the next month.

Hodge, who is joined by her mother in the interview, is being featured on "The Road toBeijing," a BBC program chronicling five athletes' quest towards the Olympics.

At the NCAA'sTCU received a total of eight All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor NationalChampionships.

Leading the way for TCU was Neidra Covington. The sophomore earned All-Americahonors in both the triple and long jump. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native, soared 6.22m(20-05.00) to place ninth overall in the long jump on Friday. She followed by leaping13.04m (42-09.50) in the women's triple jump to finish eighth in her flight and 14th over-all in the event.

Senior Virgil Hodge collected her sixth All-America certificate of her career in thewomen's 200 meters. She recorded a season-best time of 23.20 seconds in the finals ofthe women's 200 meters to finish third in her heat and seventh overall. Hodge finished inseventh-place for the second-consecutive year at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Sheis the only female in school history with at least six All-America honors.

On the men's side, Jonathan Jackson earned his second All-American award of hiscareer by soaring 16.32m (53-06.50) in the men's triple jump to finish third overall in theevent. Jackson's mark broke his own school record.

Finally, the men's 4x400 relay of Che Chavez, Dell Guy, Clemore Henry and MatthewLove recorded All-America honors after earning runner-up honors in the event by clock-ing a season best time of 3:06.19 seconds. The quartet just missed being crownedNational Champions as Baylor won the event by posting a time of 3:05.66.

Overall, TCU posted its highest finish on the men's side at the NCAA Indoors since 2004,while also recording its fourth highest finish in program history at the NCAA Indoor Trackand Field Championships. The Flyin' Frogs finished the NCAA's with 14 points. On thewomen's side, TCU finished 56th overall with two points.

Anderson Honored As South Central Region Coach of the YearTCU head coach Darryl Anderson was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross CountryCoaches Association's 2008 Women's South Central Region Coach of the Year onMonday. Anderson led TCU to its first conference title since 2004 and first in the MountainWest Conference. Individually, Anderson was honored at the end of the meet as theMWC Women's Coach of the Year. Overall at the MWC Championships, TCU won 12 dif-ferent event titles, set three new school records and posted two NCAA automatic marks.

Flyin’ Frogs Enter RankingThe TCU women come into the NCAA’s ranked No. 43 in the country by the U.S. Track& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while the men are currently ranked34th.

Individually, TCU ranks in the top 18 in six different events. Virgil Hodge is currently sit-ting at No. 9 in the NCAA in the 200 meters and No. 16 in the 60 meters, while sopho-more Neidra Covington cracks the ranking in the long jump at No. 17 and in the triplejump at No. 8. On the men’s side, senior Jonathan Jackson has recorded the fourth-bestleap in the nation in the triple jump, while the men’s 4x400 unit comes into this weekendat the No. 6 position in the relay ranking.

Winning It AllWhen the TCU women won the 2008 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championshiptwo weeks ago it marked its first conference title since 2004 and first in the MountainWest Conference. The Flyin’ Frogs captured 12 individual conference titles and thewomen's conference championship at the Mountain West Conference IndoorChampionships. The men turned in a second-place finish for its highest finish ever in theMWC.

Recording NCAA Provisional MarksOverall during the 2008 indoor season, TCU posted two NCAA Automatic and 12 NCAAprovisional marks in 12 different events. Flyin’ Frogs who have recorded automatic orprovisional marks in 2008 are Andon Mitchell, Mychal Dungey, Che Chavez, Sean Zurko,Jonathan Jackson, Virgil Hodge, Kishelle Paul, Stormy Harrison, Neidra Covington,JimAnne Hejny and the men’s and women’s 4x400-relay unit.

Representation on All-Conference SquadAs announced by the league office, TCU had 24 student-athletes named to the MountainWest Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field team. Following a confer-ence title, the women's team had 12 selections, while the men's team also had 12 hon-orees following a second-place finish.

In total, TCU's women's team had all-conference selections in nine events, while themen's team also had all-conference selections in nine different events.

Headlining TCU's selections was Brittany Blaylock, who made the list in three differentevents. Virgil Hodge, Neidra Covington, Kishelle Paul, Jessica Clarke, Kristal Juarez,Jonathan Jackson, Otis McDaniel, Dell Guy and Jordan Pitts each were honored twotimes.

On the women's side, Hodge won the 60 and 200 meters this past weekend. Her suc-cess earned her the Women's Outstanding Performance at the MWC Championships.

Blaylock received all-league honors by placing second in the 60-meter dash, third in the200-meter dash and as a member of the 4x400 relay.

Also earning honors were Covington, who won the long jump and triple jump and Paul,who won the 60-meter hurdles and ran a leg on the 4x400 relay. Clarke received all-league honors for finishing second in the 200 and as a member of the 4x400 team.Juarez was also honored for placing second in the 400 meters and running on TCU's win-ning 4x400 relay team.

Other honorees included, JimAnne Hejny, who placed second in the long jump, CandisKelley, who won her third-consecutive shot put title and the women's distance medleyteam of Tanja Ivandic, Meaghan Ryan, Meaghan Peoples and Danielle Selner, whoplaced third overall in the event.

On the men's side, Jackson was honored for winning the triple jump and placing secondin the long jump, while McDaniel earned honors after placing second in the 60 and 200meters. Jordan Pitts finished first in the 60-meter hurdles and was a member of TCU's4x400 team and Guy finished third overall in the 400 meters and was a member of the4x400 relay team.

Other honorees on the men's side, were Che Chavez, who finished second overall in the400-meter dash, Festus Kigen, who crossed the finish line in third-place in the 3,000meters, Thomas Killen, who placed third in the shot put, Andon Mitchell, who won the 60meters and Justyn Warner, who recorded a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash.Finally, Clemore Henry and Matthew Love were honored as being members of TCU'swinning 4x400 relay squad.

Flyin’ Frogs Sign FiveInking with the Flyin' Frogs last week were two men and three women. Signing for the2008-09 school year were Mark Barnes of Houston, Texas (Klein Forest H.S.), RichardKnotts of Houston, Texas (Nimitz H.S.), Whitney Gipson of Birdville, Texas (BirdvilleH.S.), Tiara Miller of Lancaster, Texas (Lancaster H.S.) and Alexandra Wyatt of FlowerMound, Texas (Flower Mound, Texas).

Senior Virgil Hodge, who is one of the most decorated track and field athletes in TCU his-tory, is currently sitting No. 20 in the world in the women’s 200 meters according to theIAAF. Hodge, a St. Kitts native, clocked a time of 23.33 at the Tyson Invitational.

Her time of 7.32 seconds in the 60 meters ranks in the top-100 in the world standings.Overall, Hodge has been ranked in the top-100 in the world since Jan. 12.

New Face To The ProgramClemore Henry comes to TCU following a successful freshman campaign at Arkansas.At the Indoor SEC Championships, he clocked a preliminary time of 21.54 in the 200meters and ran the second leg of the DMR that earned runner-up honors with a time of9:49.79. He later competed in the 200 meters, the 400 meters and the 4x100-meters atthe SEC Championships. Finally, at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships,he ran the third leg of the 4x100-meter relay that punched a ticket to the NCAAChampionships with a runner-up finish and season-best time of 39.77.

TCU SpotlightCandis Kelley won the 2008 MWC Indoor Championship shot put title. By winning theevent, she has now won the Mountain West Conference indoor shot put title the pastthree seasons.

Top Billings In The Mountain West ConferenceAfter its final competition of the indoor season, TCU held the top spot in the MountainWest Conference in 12 different events. In addition, the Flyin’ Frogs had the top two timesposted in the men’s 60 meters and men’s and women’s 200 meters.
