Landmark Skipton is displaying a new brand and different colour scheme

reflecting a new era for local farmers.

The store will now become recognised as Nutrien Ag Solutions, and a colour scheme of green, black

and white in signage and uniforms.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Skipton welcomes new era

Nutrien Ag Solutions is the new name for the combined business that was formed late last year when Landmark’s parent company Nutrien, acquired Ruralco, and the two iconic Australian businesses were brought together.

While the brand has changed, customers will continue to deal with the same local people, at the same location, and have access to the same products and services.

Branch Manager Justin Whittakers said focussing on the customer remained his number one priority and was excited to see what the new brand could bring.

“At a branch level here in Skipton, we are getting on with delivering the same great levels of customer service we always have,” Mr. Whittakers said.

“We look forward to seeing what the future holds as Nutrien Ag Solutions, but it’s business as usual at the store.”

Nationally, Nutrien Ag Solutions now has more than 4,000-plus staff. The new brand name reflects that of its parent company – Nutrien, and its ag retail operations in six other countries, firmly positioning the Australian business as part of a global agricultural powerhouse.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Managing Director Rob Clayton says the brand marks a new era for Australian ag retail and anticipated that Nutrien Ag Solutions will be welcomed as the retailer of choice for thousands of farmers.

“We’re very excited to officially launch our new brand and I’m looking forward to seeing Nutrien Ag Solutions become a recognised leader of Australian agricultural services in the coming months and years,” Mr Clayton said.

“We are proud of our legacy businesses and will maintain the

trust and relationships that growers have built through Landmark and Ruralco over many years.

“During the brand rollout, providing exceptional service to customers in the Skipton region will remain our number one focus.”

Landmark Operations Limited ABN 73 008 743 217 Level 10, 737 Bourke St, Docklands, VIC 3008, Australia

Mr Clayton said that Nutrien Ag Solutions remains committed to servicing the local community through sponsoring local businesses, sporting clubs, emergency services and charity organisations.

“Supporting local communities was a huge part of the legacy businesses and we are proud to continue that as Nutrien Ag Solutions.”

The combined operation has a network of around 360 corporate-owned stores, 320 independent rural supplies retailers, a proud stable of joint ventures in partnership with local management, and a suite of other businesses.

Three Beaufort Secondary College students vied for the

public speaking award at the Skipton Lions Youth of the

Year Final which was held at the Skipton Golf Club last

week.

The winner, Jaelyn Brand, from Lexton, will now go

through to the Regional Final which will be held at Lismore.

Beaufort Secondary College teachers in attendance, Julie

Doyle and Danielle Hinton, were justifiably proud of

students Naomi Gerrard, Jaelyn Brand and Patrick Andrews

who all gave the three Judges, Leading Senior Constable

Craig Walker, Catriona Walker (not related) and Jenny

Stuart a most difficult task ending, with a photo finish.

Visitors who had travelled from Willaura, Lismore, Lexton,

and Beaufort were given much food for thought with the

topics chosen by the students for their prepared speeches:

“Impact of technology and sedentary lifestyles of children’s

development and behaviour”, “Community Services” and

“Innovation of WW2 weaponry”.

An amusing impromptu question posed for the students was

“If you could come back to life as an animal what animal

would you choose to be?”

‘Elephants’ and ‘a bird’ were surprise choices with most

visitors expecting cats and dogs to be chosen but were

happy to be confronted with some compelling reasons to

change their minds.

Lions President Harry Waldron thanked all for attending and

the students and judges for their great work and the Golf

Club Catering Team for the delicious meal. (Thanks Val Day for photos & Report).

Lions Club of Skipton, Youth of the Year Award

4th March 2020

A very large crowd

gathered at the Skipton

Recreation Reserve

on Sunday 1st of March

for the Inaugural

Farmers v Police T/20

Cricket Challenge.

And what a day it was:

The cars started rolling in nice and early, ready for the

day—many were in “Company Cars” all lined up—some

of the Police members were actually still on call, being

single-member stations —so it was quite special that they

took the time to come to Skipton to make their time

available to help us to raise funds for BlazeAid as our

contribution to assist after the recent fires of the Summer.

Looking around the crowd it was truly wonderful to see so

many of the Police members able to come out to Skipton,

all in the one location offering their time so generously in

response to Craig’s request for a Team of cricketers to rise

to the challenge thrown out by the Farmers.

Skipton’s LSC Craig Walker just needed to organise

enough of his Police Mates for a Team of eleven, and he

organised fantastic set of uniforms and caps.

The Police Team were from a wide geographical area:

Linton, Rokewood, Camperdown, Warrnambool, Ballarat

and Skipton, and the Skipton Cricket Ground was in terrific

condition thanks to the local volunteers.

Captain of the Opposing side Tim Dunne got his Team of

Farmers assembled with Danny Bingham’s Agricultural

Contracting and Laguna Bay “Banongil”, providing major

sponsorship for number of sixes and fours scored

throughout the day. A most generous offer considering the

batting performances of the two standout batsmen:

Following the devastation of the wild fires across

Victoria’s alpine region and in Gippsland, all States of

Australia have been affected, and when local Farmers and

cropping contractors got to chatting with the local Skipton

Police member who in turn spoke to a few of his mates, the

story spread a little wider till they had the great idea for a

fundraiser for Skipton.

Some of our local Farmers and local Rural Fire Brigade

Members have had an active involvement in fighting the

fires during the summer months, as have the Police

Members who have first hand knowledge of the dangers of

the work undertaken during the disasters.

Life on the land as we all know can sometimes be quite

tough, but it can also be ever so much fun as well.

Especially when everyone gets together like on Sunday

with a single cause. Well done everyone.

Past Skipton Cricketer, now, BCA Umpire David Sproules

was happy to be able to come out to officiate but thought it

wise to establish a few “specific rules for the occasion” and

outlined a couple of points like an additional run for a No

Ball and for a Wide in order to keep the time to a more

manageable finishing time than to have an additional

delivery!!!! Might never get home. Great idea David.

With Michael as Square Leg Umpire the players didn’t

need to have to double up by needing to umpire.

The Barbecue was incredible thanks to the Great Team of

Doug, Sam, Pete, Peter, and ?? those I missed seeing.

Also, the Kitchen and Hospitality Staff managed the

refreshments superbly under the efficient guidance of Kate

Dunne and Sarah Meek, with a Team of willing assistants

throughout the afternoon (and morning), Gemma Molloy,

Steph Rogers and her little Daughter selling raffle tickets.

Thanks to the generous of the sponsors:

Bingham Agriculture, Sponsored 4’s hit

Laguna Bay, Banongil”, Sponsored 6’s hit

Camperdown Supermarket: Bread Salad etc.

Country Grocers Skipton: Soft Drinks & Water.

Ringin’s Butchers Sebastopol: For the Meat.

Kim Haley, Emu Creek Deli & Gifts

Cliff Fraser—“Man of the Match Trophy.

Pre-Mix King Ballarat

Hewitt & Whitty Skipton.

Gorst Rural Skipton.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Skipton.

Two people from Camperdown travelled all the way from

Camperdown specifically to each donate cash towards

BlazeAid—as they had in the past been assisted after fires.

Batting first Farmers were 5/205 at the close of their

innings.

The Police managed to pass them with a couple of overs to

spare at 8/206.

The two stand-out players for the day were: Milton Savage

for the Farmers who retired on 65 no and Harley Givvens

for the Police Team who retired on 74 no.

At the end of the day the Police all left fairly soon after the

presentations and raffle draw, as many were required back

on duty in their respective towns.

The Farmers being a little nearer to home, and with a more

flexible time schedule stayed on at the ground, and they

“kicked on” enjoying each other’s company a while

longer!! to discuss the match, cropping, “stock issues”!!,

and other very “important

stuff”!!

One topic was of course

“Should the match become and

annual event?” Wadda Ya

Reckon?? Tell Craig!!

MARCH NEWS 2020

STREATHAM CRAFT CLUB

Seven members gathered at the Streatham Sunday School on

Tuesday 18 February 2020.

Jessie McLean was thanked for her many years of service as

Secretary. Judy Aldous has now taken on this role. The main

business of the meeting was to plan for our share day on 17th

March 2020 at the Streatham Town Hall.

The club has invited several other craft clubs in the area to

share their handicrafts. The morning will commence as a

“show and tell”. Visitors bring their lunch and the Streatham

club will host afternoon tea.

Entry will be $6 which includes a raffle ticket.

Prizes include three shopping bags filled with groceries, a

door prize and we will also have a cross stitch or embroidery

pattern (6 x 4) competition.

After lunch our guest speaker Prue Simmons addressed the

members and many very interesting topics were covered.

Afternoon Tea completed a very enjoyable day.

RED CROSS NEWS.

On Feb 25th Streatham, Westmere

and Skipton members enjoyed

lunch at Geoff and Lorraine

Fagg’s home at Sebastopol.

Our meeting followed; the main discussion was the March

Appeal. Receipt books were given to Skipton, Streatham and

Westmere.

Skipton members will sit in front of the Grocer shop and the

Saturday Market. Streatham and Westmere will sit at the

Streatham shop and also walk the street.

Any donation is very much needed, as the RC has many

people in need to care for.

The Fire money goes to those who had the misfortune of

being in the fires. Other people who were not in the fires have

other individual needs of help.

Hazel and I intend to go to the March Meeting in Melbourne

on the 11th March.

Our next meeting will be 14th April at 2pm at the Streatham

Sunday School (please note the date).

It follows the Streaham Craft meeting at 10am---2pm / Red

Cross 2pm. Please bring a small plate for Afternoon Tea .
