Farmers MarketEach Saturday morning from 7:00

a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wills Point hasits very own Farmers Market.

Located in the parking lot of the BillIke Allred Rodeo grounds. It is awonderful place to get fresh, locallygrown produce, eggs and yummybaked goods. Dont miss out.

(cont. from pg. 1)signicant are the signs and indications I see and hear throughout our church family that we are

ready to do something about it! Yes, God is up to something in our midst, and I cant wait for itsunveilinganticipation. At the heart of this anticipated new life God is bringing in our midst, at least for me, is our

churchs participation in the Vibrant Church Initiative. Youve heard about this process from thepulpit and newsletter, as well as from members of our initial VCI lay leadership team. The currentphase has a team of church members and me reading books about what it means to be a vibrantchurch, and interacting with other churches and pastors going through the same process, as wellas with one another. When I see team members chomping at the bit as we discuss the great ideaswe are encountering, I cant help but get excited about what God is going to do through thisprocessanticipation.

The team agrees our last two books have been by far the best, and I wanted to take thisopportunity to share those with you. The rst, Simple Church, by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geigerexplored how the life of the church is often cluttered with activity and busy

    -ness that has little or

no impact on our primary calling, to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Imagine what could happen ifwe at Russell directed all of our energies and eorts to the single purpose of making disciplesanticipation.

The second book is The Externally Focused Church, by Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson. This bookchallenged us to consider whether the church exists for its own benet and the benet of churchmembers, or whether God calls churches to serve and be a blessing to their surroundingcommunities. Imagine what would happen if we at Russell asked less what the church could dofor us or what others could do for our church, and instead asked more and more what we as achurch could do for our communityanticipation.

I share these books with you in hopes that many of you will read them as

well and nd yourself challenged and compelled by the authors arguments.I want you to experience the excitement and anticipation I am feeling. Godis up to something at Russell Memorial, and I cant wait to see what it is.

    Grace & peace,

School is back in session. Please drive carefully!
