congregation. The event will be from 9:00 to 1:00, with refreshmentsavailable at 8:30. We will dream together of how God may want to work through us collectively

and individually to reach our local mission eld. This is an important day for our church! Pleaseplan to attend. The work accomplished during this event will lead to the creation of a new visionstatement. Following the event, a Ministry Audit Task Force will be created to review the ministriesof our church in light of this vision statement. A Congregational Unity Task Force will be established within the next couple of weeks. The workof this group will be to evaluate present conditions within the congregation that hinder growthand spiritual development, to identify opportunities to unite the congregation and createrelationships across generations, and to research and implement ways in which our congregationcan reach out to our Methodist Day School. Recommendations from this task force will be madeby November 30, with implementation beginning by the end of the year. We will also be creating a Discipleship Pathway Team for the purpose of clarifying a process bywhich we accomplish our mission, which is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformationof the world. This team will work to connect people and the ministries of the church to thisdiscipleship pathway. After selection of the team, the coach will schedule a workshop with thisteam to prepare them for the work. Other work is already in progress. Our trustees are considering ways to improve signage aroundour facility. The SPRC will be reviewing sta job descriptions and revising those to align with themission and vision of the church. Early in 2015 I will be holding a leadership retreat for the sta andelected leaders of the church. There will also be a Lay Leadership Task Force created for thepurpose of identifying, training and supporting new leaders in the church.Yes, the days ahead are going to get busy. We are about to immerse ourselves in some veryimportant work. I don't think it will be easy; most worthwhile work is not. Even so, I do believe itwill be invigorating. I also believe some amazing fruit will result from this work. It may not happen

overnight, and that is okay. God will bring the fruit if we are obedient to the work. I have oftenbeen encouraged by 1 Corinthians 15:58, where Paul writes, "Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your laboris not in vain." I hope that these words will encourage you as well. Grace and peace, Pastor Dave
