gather together toconsider their covenantwith God. That servicewould begin each yearwith this invitation:

My dear friends, xthese three principles inyour hearts: (1) thatthings eternal are moreenduring and real than

things temporal; (2) thatthings not seen are ascertain as the things thatare seen; (3) that upon

spiritual life of the church and its members3. Vibrant Church will require the local church to look at everything that she does from the dirt up.

The depth of look and research is comprehensive and no stone is left unturned.

    4. Vibrant Church is about teamwork and focus.5. Vibrant Church is NOT a one size ts all x for our membership and attendance losses.6. Vibrant Church will spark a spirit within your church that will cause the church to change theway it looks at ministry. We are very excited about the future of our church and how VCI will help lead us!

In May, we conrmed 3 youth, Austin Caldwell, Ryley Caldwell, and Kimberlie Lumsden. We alsocelebrated our graduates, Andra Padilla, Holly Vann, Ben Carter, and Sarah Garay, as they set outon the next chapter of their lives.

For the 4th of July, we held our rst Community Picnic. We had a great turn out for fabulous food

and a rousing game of horse shoes.

Also in July, we sent 14 kids and 4 counselors o to church camp. It was a week lled with funand fellowship. The kids are already thinking ahead to this years camp!

At the end of July, Billy took a few of the youth on a two day mission trip to Tyler. They helpedout at a Food Pantry and Clothing Closet and worked on a patio with youth from Edgewood andGrand Saline.

August saw the beginning of another school year and the delivery of trays of treats for theteachers as they prepared their class rooms. They were VERY appreciative!

The Linda Glover White Hat and Gloves Tea was a huge success! The women all looked lovely intheir fancy dress and the men did a wonderful job serving. The money raised helps the UMW withtheir mission work.

October brought the Heavens Harvest Auction. We had a great turn out and it a good time washad by all! Connie Watson did a wonderful job as chair, and the money raised goes to retire theDeen Building debt.

We also hosted a 5th Quarter after a home football game this year. We were very excited toteam up with other churches in our community to give the kids a place for fellowship.

With December came the Angel Tree. This year, with support from the entire community, wehelped 380 children (123 families) experience a merry Christmas with clothes, toys, and food.

December also brought us a new addition. Our Youth Director, Jerry Don Hu joined the RMUMCsta and we couldnt be happier to have him. We are so excited to see what 2014 brings!!

your present choice depends your eternal destiny. Choose Christ and His ways, and you areblessed forever; refuse Him, and you are undone forever.

And then, my friends, make your choice. Turn either to the right hand or to the left; Christ withHis yoke, His cross, and His crown; or the devil with his wealth, his pleasure, and his curse. Thenask yourselves, Self, you see what is before you; what will you do? Which will you have, either thecrown or the curse? If you choose the crown, remember that the day you take this, you must becontent to submit to the cross and yoke, the service and suerings of Christ, which are linked to it.What do you say? Would you rather take the gains and pleasures of sin and risk the curse? Or willyou yield yourself a servant to Christ and so make sure the crown?

Do not delay the matter. If you are unresolved, you are resolved. If you remain undeterminedfor Christ, you are determined for the devil. Therefore, follow your hearts from day to day. Do notrest until the matter is settled once and for all. And see to it that you make a good choice.

This year we will carry on this great Methodist tradition at Russell Memorial. On Sunday,January 5, we will renew our covenant with God. Among the myriad of New Years resolutions wemay choose to set our hearts and minds to this year, I can think of none better than a greaterresolve in our covenant relationship with God. May thisCovenant Prayer in the Wesleyan Tradition(UMH 607) be ours in this new year:

I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.

Put me to doing, put me to suering. Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee, exalted

for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me

have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious

and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And thecovenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratied in heaven. Amen.

    Grace and Peace,

    (cont. from pg. 1)
