ELGAR FESTIVAL 2020The official ELGAR FESTIVAL established in 2018 as an annual event, will hold its 3rd edition 28 – 31 May 2020.

The Festival is looking for skilled and experienced choral singers to form an all-new Elgar Festival Chorus of around 100 SATB singers. The chorus will become a regular contributor to the Festival in future years. In 2020 it will perform Elgar’s ‘The Spirit of England’ at the Gala Concert on Saturday 30 May in Worcester Cathedral with the English Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kenneth Woods, Artistic Director, ESO and the Elgar Festival.

The Festival has appointed Stephen Shellard (Director, Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir) as its Chorus Master. There will be four Saturday morning rehearsals (between January and May), plus an evening rehearsal in festival week, and an on-the-day full rehearsal on 30 May.

In the interests of artistic quality, participants must be able to commit to at least 3 of the 4 Saturday rehearsals. Applicants may be required to attend an audition.

Those accepted will be invited to make a voluntary donation of £25 pp participation fee to help support the costs of the project and the Festival.

The Elgar Festival is a registered charity and is managed by a volunteer governing body of members and trustees.
