This has been another exciting year for

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region!

Helping people to live rich and

vibrant lives is at the core of The Arc’s

philosophy as we continue to support people with developmental disabilities

to create lives that mirror yours and mine. We’re proud to share this 2006 Annual

Report with you and a few stories that showcase our commitment to partnerships.

Technology was a major focus for 2006. Battelle continues to partner with The Arc

by supporting an initiative to fund computers in every home.

Employment Services continue to report an employment rate greater than 90% and

recognizes local employers, such as Rite Aid, and their contributions to people who

overcome obstacles in the pursuit of excellence.

The Individual and Family Services Life Assistance Program and Community Partners

continue to network in the community and develop partnerships between people served

by The Arc, their families, and our staff.

The combined efforts of The Arc and Harford Habitat for Humanity resulted in the

renovation of a home in Aberdeen, Maryland for two people who needed significant

modifications to their existing home in order for it to be more accessible, meet their

daily needs, and for them to age in place.

As we continue to evolve as an agency that builds partnerships that will help people paint

a picture of what they envision their lives to be, we thank our supporters, who are a part

of that larger picture.

Rite Aid management toured The Arc and liked what theysaw ... an opportunity to successfully employ and promote a team concept with a group of dedicated, hardworkingindividuals for their EAS Tagging contract in Perryman.Since then, Rite Aid has expanded its commitment to 20team and 8 independent workers who receive EmploymentServices at The Arc.

Patricia, one of these enthusiastic team members, loves herjob. She is happy with what she is doing, has the respectand support she needs from her co-workers, and has a vision for her future.

Employment Services- Creating Success at Work

5

Brad, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, volunteered as a Life Assistance Coach for The Arc andnot only gained experience towards his physical therapydegree but also made two new friends in the process,Matthew and Mark.

Life Assistance was the link that brought the three togetherto share summer experiences.

The most important indicator of the program’s success wasMatthew and Mark’s satisfaction and achievements and thefact that Brad wants to do it all over again next summer.
