Week 9 Term 3, 10th September 2014 Dear Parents, Sue Mackay Principal Week 6 Term 4, 11th November 2015 Dear Parents, The P & C Fete Team have spent many months preparing for the Twilight Fair on this Friday 13th November. This biannual event is the major fund raiser for the P & C and a wonderful opportunity to join our community spirit, support our school and have some fun along the way! Each of our twenty five classes will be involved in stalls and fun activities across the afternoon and evening, commencing at 3pm. Students are permitted to wear mufti clothes to school on Friday however they must be wearing closed footwear – thongs and sandals are not permitted. No skimpy shorts or singlet tops please girls! Once the school bell rings, students are permitted to stay at school though it is important to remember that staff will be attending to stalls. Parents and carers are expected to be at school promptly for the supervision of their children. It is advisable that students do not have large amounts of money with them at school for their Twilight Fair spending. Parents are best to provide spending money when they meet up with their children at the event. Buses will run as usual for students going home to meet up with adults prior to returning to the fair. There is a huge amount of excitement and anticipation in the air across the school this week! What better way to spend a Black Friday than at the Twilight Fair. Hope we see you there. Quote for the Week:

Week 6 Term 4, 11th November 2015

Dear Parents,

The P & C Fete Team have spent many months preparing for the Twilight Fair

on this Friday 13th November. This biannual event is the major fund raiser

for the P & C and a wonderful opportunity to join our community spirit, support

our school and have some fun along the way!

Each of our twenty five classes will be involved in stalls and fun activities across

the afternoon and evening, commencing at 3pm. Students are permitted to wear

mufti clothes to school on Friday however they must be wearing closed footwear –

thongs and sandals are not permitted. No skimpy shorts or singlet tops please

girls! Once the school bell rings, students are permitted to stay at school though it

is important to remember that staff will be attending to stalls. Parents and carers

are expected to be at school promptly for the supervision of their children.

It is advisable that students do not have large amounts of money with them at school for their Twilight Fair

spending. Parents are best to provide spending money when they meet up with their children at the event. Buses

will run as usual for students going home to meet up with adults prior to returning to the fair.

There is a huge amount of excitement and anticipation in the air across the school this week! What better way to

spend a Black Friday than at the Twilight Fair. Hope we see you there.

MUFTI DAY

Learning the Roo Roll On Friday of last week, Office of Environment and Heritage staff attended the school to talk to students about safety around kangaroos. The students were instructed in the ‘ROO ROLL’ procedure and learnt how to behave and respond should they find themselves near a kangaroo out in nature. Kangaroos are often portrayed in the media as friendly and cuddly Australian cultural icons. However, they can hurt people. The risk of being attacked by a kangaroo is very low. Several thousand people seek medical attention each year for injuries from domestic pets, while fewer than five people in NSW are treated for kangaroo-related injuries. The greatest risk is in areas where people have altered kangaroos' natural habitat and feeding patterns.

DEPUTY’S REPORT

The countdown is now on for the Kororo Twilight Fair. Everyone is very busy collecting, building or cooking for their stall.

This is a very big event in the Kororo calendar. Apart from delicious cakes, coffee, pizzas, curries and a barbecue there will be fairy floss, popcorn and slushies. Lots of bargains can be had at the trash and treasure, book and recycled clothing stalls. The ghost house is always popular and this year for the first time we have a photo booth where you can dress up and have your photo taken.

To keep the children entertained there will be a petting zoo, jumping castle, face painting and ‘The Wipe Out!’ It starts at 3:00pm and finishes at 7:00pm. Be there early to grab the best bargains.

STATE SPELLING BEE Good luck to Zayn P competing at the NSW Premiers Spelling Bee State Final in Sydney this week. PLANNING FOR 2016 Don’t Forget. If you are intending to leave KPS and move schools next year, please let the school know as soon as possible.

UNIFORM SHOP NEWS

Unfortunately the Uniform Shop will be closed this Friday, 13th November. It will reopen on Monday morning from 8.45am until 9am. Remember cash only!

HEADLICE Headlice are still around. Please keep checking your child’s hair and if you find the pesky little creatures or eggs please treat them before coming to school. We will call you to collect your child to be treated if they are found in their hair.
