We have been blessed by the Hand of God again this year with 68 adults and children in our RCIA and RCIC here at St. Peter Parish

Each year at the Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming, the parish gives each in the RCIA/RCIC process a Bible as a gift. During this rite, to be celebrated on December 16th, those in the process express their in-tention to respond to God’s call to follow the way of Christ. The Bible is given to assist them with God’s call.

Would you like to give a donation towards purchasing a Bible to give to one of our inquirers? The cost of each Bible is $30.00. If you would like to donate one, please make the check payable to St. Peter Parish with a notation for an RCIA Bible. Current Parish Events

“The Divine Mercy Hour of Prayer” is offered each Tuesday from 3:00-3:45 p.m. in church. The hour begins with the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy then the reci-tation of the Rosary. We invite all to join us for this hour as we pray for God’s Mercy!

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION St. Peter Baptismal Preparation for infants consists of one mandatory session, that par-ents and godparents are required to attend. Parents are encouraged to call the rec-tory, 985.892.2422, three months before the expected birth date to register for class.

The next seminar is Wednesday, December 5th, from 6:00—7:15 p.m. in the Upper Room, 318 S. Jef-ferson Ave. The Rite of Baptism will be scheduled after the class has been attended and all documents are submitted.

Rosary Sign-up for The Holy Souls in Purgatory

Would you or your family like to sign-up to pray a rosary for “The Holy Souls in Purgatory”?

All parishioners are invited to pray a rosary for the Souls in Purgatory as often as possible during the year. This rosary may be said for your dear departed family members, friends, or anyone, even those unknown to you, whom you wish to include in this Act of Charity. The sign-up sheet is in the back of church. Thank you for sharing in this special gift to all the “Holy Souls in Purgatory”

Next weekend, November 17/18, our second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Over 43 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs to empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to bring permanent and positive change to their communities. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

25% of the collection is directed toward local anti-poverty projects. 2018 Beneficiaries include St. Alphonsus Parish, St. Martha Parish, St. Mary Academy, Fourth World Movement at St. Augustine Parish, Bread or Stones (LA Interfaith Church Alliance), Catholic Climate Covenant, Congregation of St. Joseph, and the Jesuit Social Research Institute.

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others who donated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on.” Ask yourself “Am I only giving from my surplus wealth?” and then put your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul poor box so that those who are suffering will be able to know God’s love and care.

CYO Athletics The CYO participates in a variety of athletic leagues sponsored by the Archdiocesan CYO/Youth Ministry office. Sports in-clude: Co-ed Volleyball, Co-ed Cabbage Ball, Boy’s Flag Foot-ball, Boy’s Basketball.

Liturgy of the Word for Children Offered for 3 - 6 year old children

During the 9:30 a.m. Mass

 

The Children’s Liturgy provides children with a time and place to “soak in” the Gospel message on a level they can understand. Children will be led to St. Mary’s Hall for catechesis after the Opening Greeting and will return to Church im-mediately following the Prayers of the Faithful. No registration is required.

Annulment Writing Workshop

The Archdiocese of New Orleans will offer a writing workshop for persons seeking an annulment in the Catholic Church or for persons responding to an an-nulment. The workshop will be held in St. Rita of Cascia’s Msgr. Champagne Complex in Harahan. The series will be for three (3) Saturdays, November 24, December 1 and 8, 2018. 8:30 a.m. until Noon. , The materials fee for the series is $25.00.
