Dear Folks,ThisisapictureofmeofferingMassinthetombwhereJesusrosefromthedead.Maybemyfavorite picture ever. How did I get the shot? Well the area where I wasstandingisabout3feetby7feet.7priestswere crammed into this area. I had asked one of theprieststosnapapicturewhenMassbegan,butdidn’twanthimtobedistractedbecausehewasconcelebrating.Soheholdsthecameraup(about12inchesfrommyear)andblindlytakespictures right after the consecration. Yikes! I hear the camera clicking in my ear and think, “not now! Please Father!” With the very low light andhisproximitytomeitwasamiraclethatthepicture came out so well! Because of this, I have tohavealittlemercyonyouwhentakepicturesatMass…butnotifyoucomeuprightbehindme! ;-) I know that many folks here have made pilgrimagestotheHolyLand.Ibelievethateveryone should try to get there one day, if possible,becauseofhowitwilldeepenyourfaith.ToseewhereJesuswalked,prayed,wasbornandrose from the dead? These scriptures will cease to be‘stories’andcomealive.HolyLandwithFatherHolmes:February2-13,2018. Stops will include Galilee, Nazareth, Cana, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and more in Israel, and also even Jordan with stops at the Baptism of our Lord, Petra, and Amman. The highlight of the day for our guests is the visit to the classrooms. What a joy to spend some time with their precious grandchildren at school. Catholic Campaign for Human DevelopmentThere are over 46 million people in the United States living in poverty, and this collection supports programs to empower local communities to address the challenges they face. The Catho-lic Campaign for Human Devel-opment supports those living in poverty across the country to identify and address the unique obstaclestheyfaceastheyworkto lift themselves out of poverty. In addition, 25 percent of funds collected will remain in our dio-cese to fund local anti-poverty projects. By supporting this collection, you are giving those on the margins a hand up, not a hand out.
