As we do every year, out of profound appreciation for all those ADULT parishioners (and their spouses) who worked for our parish throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, we will gather for a sit-down dinner at SCALETTA RESTAURANT on West 77th Street on Monday evening, June 6th. If you belong to a parish group (e.g., Parish or Financial Councils, CRC, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers), call your group leader, and they will pass along the number of attendees to the rectory. If you do NOT belong to a parish group (trustee, church decorator, etc.), and have worked for our parish throughout the Year (2015-2016) on a purely voluntary basis, call the rectory and leave your name(s). * * * * * * * *

Holy Trinity Parish Golf Shirt!

Trinity Affinity UWS

We are getting together an order for a special golf shirt, embroidered with the phrase “Trinity Affinity, UWS.” They come in men and women sizes – small through XXXL. Order one size larger than usual, since they run a bit small. THERE IS A SAMPLE BLACK SHIRT [“Ultra Club,” 65% poly, 35% cotton] WITH GOLD LETTERING ON DISPLAY at the back on the church, near the literature rack AND worn by the sacristans taking up the collection. If you would like to purchase one, add your name, size and $32.00 to the LIST IN THE RECTORY. [Just so you know, our parish will make no profit from these purchases; it’s just a courtesy we are extending to you and your family.]

The Archdiocese for the Military Services

There will be a second collection today for the Archdiocese for Military Services which serves 1.8 million people, including Catholics serving in the armed services, their families, students enrolled in military academies, and patients in Veteran Administration medical centers. The Archdiocese is not funded by the federal government. This collection allows Catholics to express support and solidarity for the military personnel. We ask your usual generosity. * * * * * * * *

Our Old Friend Fr. Mariano Perron from Madrid, Spain, will arrive at Holy Trinity on Thursday for a ten-day stay. He departs for home on the 24th. We look forward to seeing him again and enjoying his incomparable company, as we shall again during the summer. * * * * * * * *

Sophia, ChurchMouse

The magnificent, donated Easter foliage and floral displays might have prevented you from noticing how sparkling clean the church building is. Cheers go out to both the Easter flower donors and our indefatigable parish plant manager. What a great parish we have!

The Cardinal’s Appeal focuses on six areas of giving: 6) Specialized Services Well-qualified and hard-working employees provide our schools, parishes, charitable agencies, and healthcare institu-tions with essential guidance on issues such as legal affairs, real estate, human resources, finance, and insurance.

The goal for Holy Trinity this year is $60,000. We ask your help for us to reach our goal. There are special envelopes at the entrance of the church for new members and those who did not receive a letter form the Cardinal.

No habían pescado nada. Llegaron a Jesús necesitados y vacíos.

* * * * * * * * THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

First Reading: Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41 The high priest chastised Peter and the other apostles for continuing to preach when they had been ordered to stop. Peter replied he would rather obey God than men, considering God's power even over death. Second Reading: Revelation 5:11-14 John had a vision of many angels and all the living creatures of the world gathered around a throne. The angels cried out that the slain Lamb was worthy of receiving power, glory and praise. Then every creature on earth called out praise to God and the Lamb. Gospel: John 21:1-19 Jesus appeared to the disciples for the third time since his resurrection while they were fishing. They hadn't caught anything, and then Jesus advised them to cast their net from the other side of the boat. When they did this, they caught a great number of fish. Jesus then asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" When Peter said he did, Jesus asked him to tend and feed his sheep.
