PARISH NEWS Dear Parishioners and Friends, I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving. Hopefully a spirit of gratitude filled our minds and hearts, and it was wonderful that many of us came together at the parish to celebrate Eucharist, the great prayer of Thanksgiving. I would like to thank all those who brought food items to stock our parish food pantry. Ready-packed bags were also brought to us from the Stephen Gaynor School, and one of our very own Blessed Sacrament School Alums, who now attends Xavier Highschool, Dylan Alexander, coordinated an initiative through YouGiveGoods that raised 775 lbs. of food for the pantry. Many who donated through that initiative were from our school…what a wonderful way to live out our Christian Faith during these weeks. Thanks to all who have and are supporting the Parish Appeal to help us cover the parish operating needs for this year. As of this week we have raised about $17,000 on top of the original $50,000 given by the initial pool of donors. I have suggested that giving $50 or $100 might be realistic for some…for others perhaps more or less. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. Throughout these past months of Ordinary Time we have heard the stories of Christ’s life and ministry, and we have been challenged to respond to God’s Word in the often challenging circumstances of our lives and our world. Today’s Feast gives us hope that Christ indeed reigns as King of Heaven and Earth. His victory is won and that gives us hope that God’s love and mercy are ultimately triumphant, and can be triumphant in our lives. The Feast of Christ the King is the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year, and always prepares us anew for the beginning of the year with the start of Advent next Sunday. Finally, I would like to share that some visitors who attended the 10AM Family Mass last Sunday came to me with their thanks and excitement that our church was so filled with families and alive. Thanks to the various people working hard these days to minister to our families through our Religious Education Program, and our Family and Music Ministries. As always, let us continue to pray for peace. Father Duffell

Padre Duffell.

Wednesday November 29, 2017 | 6 p.m. Pope Auditorium | Fordham University 113 West 60th Street | New York City We find ourselves living in a world where foundational principles such as equality, tolerance, and free speech seem increasingly fragile- a world where the very concept of truth appears to be under siege. Is this turmoil symptomatic of a deeper, looming moral crisis in America?

Can our institutions and values save us from this crisis? Will they even prevail? How do we find hope and a way forward? FREE ADMISSION, RSVP: [email protected]

ALL ARE WELCOME! FREE COMPLETE SCREENING OF CLASSIC DEKALOG FILM SERIES This acclaimed film series raises the great moral questions embedded in real life, often lived out in difficult circumstances. In his ten hour-long films, the late and legendary director and co-writer Krzysztof Kieslowski explores the theme and challenge of each Commandment through characters living in a typical Soviet-era housing complex.

Come join us November 29th from 7:30pm – 9:00pm for this thought provoking series and for a discussion after each film.
