**In Finland, experiences are authentic. We dont have the worlds tallest buildings or the largest shopping malls. We do not have many of the extravagant constructions and attractions of some of the worlds most attractive travel destinations.

However, we do offer a genuine mix of nature, people, tranquility and culture.*In Finland, people value simplicity. The most popular pastimes require little in terms of access and equipment. Even high level cultural events do not call for complex protocol or dress codes.

In Finland, people move freely in nature and participate in the easily accessible cultural events of many Finnish cities.

    *

Finland has been traditionally known for its internationally acclaimed architecture and design. This tradition is still alive and well in Finland as can be seen from the status of Helsinki becoming the World Design Capital in 2012.

The creativity of Finnish culture can also be seen in its rich classical and popular music scenes. Finland is generally a dynamic breeding ground for innovative cultural experiments in many different areas life including fashion, design, music, sports and theatre. One manifestation of this cultural effervescence are the hundreds of cultural events that are organized is every part of the country during the summer. Some are more eccentric than others including the world championships in air guitar playing.

**From a European perspective, Finland is a fairly large country with a good level of geographic and demographic diversity. Helsinki and other large Finnish cities are modern and international. By contrast, the rest of the country is sparsely populated. *

In Finland, the four seasons are distinctive and have their own color and temperature. Finland in the Winter and Summer feels like two completely different countries.

*Finland is one of the worlds most technologically advanced countries in the world. This has not stopped it from maintaining its traditional values. This can be seen in its buildings, its fashion and lifestyle. All the way down to what Finns eat, you will find traditional ingredients that are from the close by nature.

**It is not an exaggeration to say that Finland is the most functional country in the world. Airplanes and trains run on time, restaurant bills have no hidden charges and all streets and even airport runways are kept clean even if there has a severe winter storm on the previous night. One driving force behind this world-class functionality is the countrys level of social trust. In fact, Finland is a leader in many international trust related research and indexes. In one Gallup Poll (2008) Finns ranked number one in the world in those who believe that their wallets would be returned to them if it were lost.

    *

Finland is perhaps not the cheapest country in the world. However, in Finland you get what you pay for i.e. quality.

    *

Finland is a stable and quiet country where there is relatively little criminality and where state authorities can be trusted. It is not an exaggeration to say that Finland is the safest country in the world.
