Accommodations are difficult to find!•  With a growing population nearly 5 million Singaporeans, prices for

apartments and houses are rising.!•  Independent Property agents are easy to find, but difficult if you are

not on the ground you should rely on a trustful agency (like for example) Oversea Accommodations or LMB Housing. !

•  To give you an idea: If you share a modern apartment in a typical Condo with some friends, you will probably pay 700-1000 Euro per month!

•  Renting an HDB (state-owned property) is cheaper but usually illegal for foreigners!

Singapore is diverse!

•  Singapore is a melting pot with people from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and various other countries. The majority comes from China with over 50%!

•  Religions: Buddhist Taoist, Muslim, Christian and Hindu!•  Languages: English, Mandarin and other Chinese dialects, Malay

and Tamil. !•  As English is the primary language, nearly every Singaporean can

speak English as well as at least one other language fluently.!

•  The Singaporean Government differentiates between the so-called „Permanent Residence“ and regulations for visitors.!

It is a lion with a fish body and Singapore´s heraldic animal. You can find it near the Merlion Park directly at the Bay and enjoy the amazing overview about the skyline of the financial district.!!Singapore Zoo!Some say it is the best zoo in the world and it is definitely worth spending a day there. It is famous for their wihite tigers as well as their Night Safaris which lets you discover exotic animals like you have never seen before. !!

Places you should see in the first week!Financial District!Singapore is not only famous for having one of the biggest harbors in the world but also for their financial district. Banks like Deutsche Bank benefit from low taxes and steadily grow their business in the developing Asian markets.!!Little India and China Town!Singapore is a melting pod of various nationalities, cultures and religions. Because it is such a safe city, you can explore each and every part of Singapore, enjoy the amazing food in the local food markets of Little India or China Town and buy traditional Indonesian clothes or jewellery. The city is famous for their cheap!

International Schools and Universities!•  Singapore´s schooling system is well-known and especially the

National University Singapore is ranked 22 in the Times Higher Education Ranking!

•  Several International Schools opened during the last years offering special courses for the children of expatriates!

•  Languages are an important part of the Singaporean education system: students usually learn Chinese, English as well as a third language.!

Flights!

•  Changi Airport is said to be one of the best airports worldwide and Singapore Airlines one of the best airlines but definately not the cheapest one. !

•  From Europe flights via Dubai or Qatar are usually the cheapest and airlines like Emirates fly several times per day to Singapore. !

•  Flights from Europe to Singapore usually cost around 600-700 Euro!•  As flights from Singapore to Malaysia, or Indonesia (especially Bali

and Jakarta) are extremely cheap, short trips over the weekend are a must!
