of the Epiphany.

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.

Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

 John 13:34

When we love, we act. The action can take many forms and will look different for each person. But true love inspires a response.

This past fall, Saint Kateri parishioners responded in so many different ways to

Christ’s invitation to love others through the Catholic Ministry Appeal (CMA). In

this bulletin, we acknowledge with grateful hearts some of the many ways the Spirit stirred hearts to act while the center pages overflow with the names of those who donated. Thank you!

If you have not yet given, there is still time. We need you. When everyone does their part, amazing things happen. Donations can be made through May. Envelopes are available in church and parish offices. To donate online, go to the parish website: KateriIrondequoit.org.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed and we are humbled by the inspiration we have received through working on this campaign. Thank you to everyone who has been inspired to act:

The warmth of our community is wonderful and the faith and trust in our Lord is powerful especially when we share it with each other, just as we proclaim in our parish vision:

Friends and neighbors joyfully sharing and living the Gospel and the

transforming love of Jesus Christ through our Parish Family.

Thank you for your generosity of heart!

 Karin Spears & Donna Walker

To our Matching Fund Donor for his patience and generosity. He reminded us how easy it is for him to love our Lord and how much he wants each of us to know the goodness of the Lord.

To another donor who spontaneously offered to pay for printing and mailing of the post cards explaining the match to our parishioners because she believed in our cause.

To our Music Ministry members for lending their voices and talents that touched our hearts with their praise and worship at the start of this year’s campaign.

To you for your attentiveness at Mass during our fiveweek effort to share more detailed explanations about the important work of our Catholic Church throughout the diocese and how our parish benefits and our individual faith journeys are nourished through CMA.

To the families and individuals who proudly dressed up and showed up to bring forward a symbolic basket of Hope at each of the 30 Masses.

To the Boy Scouts and neighbors who gave their time to help create more than 750 yarn balls that would help us in telling the story of CMA contributions.

To our Pastoral Council members who made a thank you call to each donor. They reached out to more than 1,000 households with heartfelt appreciation.

To our Advent volunteer callers who for four weeks reached out to individual parishioners reminding them to prepare their hearts by spending quiet time with the Lord, asked if there was anything they needed prayers for and reminded them about the CMA campaign

To the prayer groups who interceded with the Lord in petition and prayer for the varied intentions people asked prayed to the Lord

To everyone who received our messages of supplication (letters, post cards, emails and phone calls) and responded with love and kindness. For doing what you could, what Christ asked of you and for joining together with our entire parish to make a difference in our community and beyond.

2017 NYS Public Policy Campaign Feb 4 & 5

Opposing PhysicianAssisted Suicide

Legislation has been introduced in New York State that would authorize assisted suicide by allowing doctors to le-gally prescribe a deadly dose of pills at the request of a pa-tient with a terminal diagnosis. While proponents may call it “death with dignity” or “aid in dying,” in reality this bill would authorize the direct and intentional taking of human life. Catholic teaching upholds the dignity of all human life from the moment of conception to natural death.

you today and always and to attain the

reward of eternal life with you. We ask this

through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer: God is talking … are YOU listening?FRISUN Mar 35Notre Dame Retreat House, Canandaigua, NY

Is it difficult to carve out time to pray each day? Is life too busy? You are invited to a weekend retreat at Notre Dame Retreat House where we will give you time to explore the meaning of prayer; different styles of prayer and ways to overcome obstacles and enrich prayer time. An Early Christmas for the Kindergarten Class

by Ann Fisher

‘Twas a few days before Christmas and, for our Kindergarteners, not a book was opened nor a spelling test given. It was our annual Christmas celebration for students with their parents, younger siblings and other special people. All enjoyed the merriment of crafts, singing songs and snacking on delicious treats! What a wonderful surprise when Santa stopped by bearing special presents for each child! It truly was a magical morning!
