Mona Lyn Reese
Mona Lyn Reese has been composing professionally since 1975. In her recent works, she has concentrated onopera and orchestral music. Composer-in-Residence at the Minnesota Opera from 1991-1999, she arrangedworks for the Minnesota Opera touring company and conducted educational residencies to help studentswrite and produce original operas.
In 1993 she was awarded a Faith Partners Residency sponsored by the American Composers Forum and theOtto Bremer Foundation. During this residency, she collaborated with Delores Dufner, OSB, on the dramatic oratorio Choose Life, Uvacharta Bachayim. Her symphonic version was performed by the BillingsSymphony & Chorale in 1996 when she was Composer-in-Residence at the Billings Symphony. Choose Lifewas nominated for the 1995 Pulitzer Prize.
Reese was selected to spend the month of June (2003) as a Studium Scholar-in-Residence at Saint Benedict’smonastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota. During her time there, she planned the chamber orchestra compositionLittle Pieces from My Heart, commissioned by the San José Chamber Orchestra.
Reese’s orchestral works have been performed by orchestras throughout the country including the MinnesotaOrchestra, the Livingston Symphony (New Jersey), the Atlanta Symphony, the Minnesota Sinfonia, and theSan José Chamber Orchestra.

At the time of the resurrection, God selects Mary Magdalene for two great honors: she is the first to discoverthat Jesus is risen, and she is the first person “chosen to proclaim the resurrection to others.”
The call to bear witness to the risen Christ is a frequent theme throughout the scriptures. In Isaiah 60:1 theprophet tells us that our light is come and we should arise and shine forth with that light.
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
In Mark 16:6-7 the angel at the tomb commands Mary to tell others that Jesus lives.
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here:behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you intoGalilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
In Mark 16:15 Jesus himself gives the command to go forth and preach the gospel to the world.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The fanfare, like the voice of the angel to Mary Magdalene, calls us to go forth and proclaim the good Wordof the resurrection.

Mona Lyn Reese
Mona Lyn Reese has been composing professionally since 1975. In her recent works, she has concentrated onopera and orchestral music. Composer-in-Residence at the Minnesota Opera from 1991-1999, she arrangedworks for the Minnesota Opera touring company and conducted educational residencies to help studentswrite and produce original operas.
In 1993 she was awarded a Faith Partners Residency sponsored by the American Composers Forum and theOtto Bremer Foundation. During this residency, she collaborated with Delores Dufner, OSB, on the dramatic oratorio Choose Life, Uvacharta Bachayim. Her symphonic version was performed by the BillingsSymphony & Chorale in 1996 when she was Composer-in-Residence at the Billings Symphony. Choose Lifewas nominated for the 1995 Pulitzer Prize.
Reese was selected to spend the month of June (2003) as a Studium Scholar-in-Residence at Saint Benedict’smonastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota. During her time there, she planned the chamber orchestra compositionLittle Pieces from My Heart, commissioned by the San José Chamber Orchestra.
Reese’s orchestral works have been performed by orchestras throughout the country including the MinnesotaOrchestra, the Livingston Symphony (New Jersey), the Atlanta Symphony, the Minnesota Sinfonia, and theSan José Chamber Orchestra.

At the time of the resurrection, God selects Mary Magdalene for two great honors: she is the first to discoverthat Jesus is risen, and she is the first person “chosen to proclaim the resurrection to others.”
The call to bear witness to the risen Christ is a frequent theme throughout the scriptures. In Isaiah 60:1 theprophet tells us that our light is come and we should arise and shine forth with that light.
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
In Mark 16:6-7 the angel at the tomb commands Mary to tell others that Jesus lives.
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here:behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you intoGalilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
In Mark 16:15 Jesus himself gives the command to go forth and preach the gospel to the world.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The fanfare, like the voice of the angel to Mary Magdalene, calls us to go forth and proclaim the good Wordof the resurrection.
