Personal Views allow access definitions to be configured per UserId or UserID Group. Tools, Disks, subvols, and OSS directories can be hidden or displayed. Spoolfiles owned by a different UserId can be viewed and managed.

TheView 2012 implemented 448 bit - 16 round Blowfish encryption providing secure communication between the client and server. FTP and Telnet Tool are not encrypted.

TheView is 90% faster than traditional access methods. This translates to a lot less wait time which will improve how much you get done in a day with less frustration.

• D48.03 and all later Guardian release versions.• K-Series, S-Series, Itanium, and Blade platforms. • Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. • TCP/IP is required on the PC and server.

Onsite training for TheView is available.

TheView 2012 is a powerful GUI that will significantly increase productivity. It is comprised of software tools for frequently used subsystems (e.g. Peruse, SCF, TACL) and tools that are not provided (e.g. File Compare Tool). The interface was designed to look and work like Microsoft Windows® and Apple's Mac OS®. Why? Because their point and click style of interface is so well known, efficient, and easy to learm!

TheView was designed for developers, system managers, DBAs, technical support analysts and end users.

1. TheView integrates the PC, Guardian and OSS environ-ments providing a simple and consistent access solution. 2. Users are no longer restricted to working in a 24 line by 80 character window. Using a 17" monitor, TheView will more than double the amount of information that can be viewed.

3. It is faster to process data graphically with fewer mistakes.

4. Offloads 50% of server resource utilization to the PC.

5. New users will 'come up to speed' and become productive in days and experienced users will be more productive using the advanced features.

• Up and down arrow keys accesses previous commands.

Logical View: A directory of files that comprise a software project can be displayed in a Logical View window. First a directory is created with directory items for specific categories of file types (e.g. Source, Listings, Programs, Documenta-tion). Files are then added under the appropriate directory item. Double-click is supported to retrieve edit, archived spoolfiles, and execute programs. Logical View's can be shared by multiple users.

Desktop: TheView's main window is called the desktop where all other windows are displayed. Icons can be created for Guardian edit, archived spoolfiles, program files, C-Data files, PC Folders, Subvols, CAIL windows, OSS Directories, and File Tool windows. TACL Macro execution icons can be created allowing execution of edit obey files by different subsystems.

Workspaces: Allows open tool windows to be organized by software projects, support tickets, or by Guardian UserIds. Tool windows are opened in the currently active workspace. Selecting a different workspace will 'hide' the current tool windows and then 'show' the previously opened tool win-dows in the selected workspace. For users that have multiple UserIds, Guardian UserId Workspaces creates a workspace for each Guardian UserId configured.

Performance: TheView is 90% faster than traditional terminal emulators, which translates to less server overhead. Valuable system resource usage is also reduced. For instance, a terminal emulator must use a TACL in order to execute FUP (TACLs are expensive).

Cluster Definitions: Sites that have servers at different geo-graphic locations or divided by application function, servers can be organized using a cluster name. So, a cluster name might be 'Sacramento' which has 3 servers and a second site with a cluster named 'New York' which also has 3 servers. When the 'Sacramento' cluster is selected, TheView's tools only show the servers associated with the 'Sacramento' site.

External Editor Support: If a PC editor is required for special editing operations, it can be configured. TheView will download the appropriate edit file and start the external PC editor. The interface can be configured to auto or manually save edit files back to the server.

Search and Replace Pane: Easily search and replace text in all open edit files in a workspace. • When searching for text, each occurrence has a 'link' entry that will display the text in the appropriate edit window when clicked.• When searching and replacing text, each occurrence has a 'link' entry that will display the replaced text.• When searching and replacing text, the last replace opera-tion can easily be undone.• When searching and replacing text, each of the edit files are first saved in a special PC folder for easy recovery.

ASCII Chart: Shows ASCII, octal, decimal, hex and EBCDIC.

Command Menu: Allows obey files, TACL Macros, TACL Libraries, and prompting TACL Libraries to be ex-ecuted by pressing a button. Create com-mon libraries shared by all users. TACL Library parameters

are supported and enhanced.

Convert Number: Convert any base to decimal, octal, hex, binary, and ASCII values, converts timestamps, TransIds, TCP/IP addresses, and PDates.

Copy To locations: The standard 'copy to' destination in Tool windows are: Print Preview, Excel, Word, GUI Editor, and email window.

GUI Editor: Edit PC, Guardian and OSS edit files.• Color syntax highlighting (also prints in color) for 21 dif-ferent languages (e.g. COBOL, TACL, pTal).• Over 170 configurable edit commands. Favorite hot keys can be configured for each edit command.• Support for column delete, copy and paste.• Create 4 panes per Edit window.• Code completion for Guardian Procedure calls have been implemented for pTal.• Display a file in binary, octal, decimal, hex or ASCII.• Record sequence of commands in a macro.

Program Execution Window: Executes Guardian conversa-tional command line programs.• 256 character wide unlimited scrollable window • Visual previous command history allows re-execution of commands, shows duration of command, and easily reposi-tion to where the command executed.• Create favorite command files containing commands for easy re-execution from the Favorites or Queue Pane. • Queue Pane showing type ahead commands, modify, cut and paste commands into the queue, pause and start execu-tion of commands.• Create desktop icons saving; configuration settings, daily executed commands, and responses from the server.• Optionally store commands executed day to day.• Powerful search facility allowing text to be searched creating a 'link' for each occurrence found for quick access. A search can also be configured to search the text as a commands output is received from the server.• Visual Inspect support.• Open edit files in TheView's GUI editor.

Workspace Skins: Allows each user to display a totally dif-ferent look and feel of the user interface.

TheView's graphi-cal interface has been designed to accommodate hot key users, toolbar & icon users, and small laptop displays up to quad monitor con-figurations. All tool windows have toolbars that can be displayed, hidden, detached, or the style of the toolbar changed. Individual icons can be hidden or displayed and new

toolbars created. The entire look and feel of TheView can be altered by selecting different workspace skins. This is the most advanced visual interface available today.

Icons: Icons are available in three sizes: 16 x 16, 24 x 24 and 32 x 32. Desktop icons are a standard 32 x 32.

Panes: Are a powerful GUI component that allows windows to be displayed or automatically collapsed to a tab when not needed. Panes can float or be attached to any side of a win-dow. If there are multiple panes defined in a window, they can be stacked side by side or on top of each other or combined and displayed in a tab view. There are easy to use positioning guides allowing panes to be snapped into a desired position. The Execution Window is a good example of the use of panes. There are five panes defined: Favorite Commands, Execution Queue, Text Search, Command History, and an alternate View window.

Tool Window Positioning: Resizing and moving windows to a desired location takes time and depending upon how exact the adjustment must be, requires a lot of mouse actions. There are 15 Ribbon Bar icons that can change the position and size of a window using a single mouse click. Hotkeys can also be defined for each of these icons.

Ribbon Bar: A powerful and highly configurable GUI compo-nent is the Ribbon Bar. It displays available tools and window management icons. The default layout is designed for a Tool-bar & Icon style of a user and not a hotkey user. The Ribbon Bar can be easily hidden (press Ctrl + Shift + H), configure which tools are displayed or hidden or all of the tool and window management icons can be moved to the Quick Access toolbar that consumes a fraction of the client space.

Toolbars: All windows have one or more toolbars which are initially positioned at the top of the window. Toolbars can easily be hidden or displayed (press Ctrl + H), repositioned on any side of the window, floating and customized by hiding specific icons. New toolbars can also be created.

NonStopGadget: A clock and calendar NonStopGadget is displayed on TheView's desktop.
