Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) changes lives and strengthens communities with services that enhance personal abilities, break down barriers to employment and help individuals realize their potential.

Since 1890, VGS has been a national leader in helping individuals realize brighter futures. Annually, the agency provides a variety of services to nearly 5,000 individuals with physical or mental disabilities, a history of incarceration, and other barriers to employment, such as economic challenges. A comprehensive range of services including work evaluation, work adjustment, skills training, job placement and social enterprise work opportunities are available to community members receiving assistance from VGS.

VGS has developed additional social enterprises in the 21st century to ensure that its mission of preparing people with barriers to employment for a brighter future is maximized. For example:

Nearly 70 individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment are producing 100% of the women’s dress slacks for the

U.S. Army, Navy and Marines

Nearly 500 individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment are providing custodial services at more than 100 locations throughout Ohio

More than 100 individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment provide inspection, packaging and assembly services to companies like:

Applied Industrial Technologies, Bendix, Boehm Steel, Chrysler, Invacare, Nordson, and Ridge Tool Co.
