The tradition of imparting management education at NIT Durgapur dates back to more than a

decade. Over the years, management teaching has evolved here and from the year 2004 onwards,

DMS started offering the MBA programme. Since then, several batches have passed out and have

been placed in leading business organizations in all major areas from three different specializations

Finance, Marketing and Human Resource. NIT Durgapur MBAs have been the preferred choice of

many recruiters.

The thrust of learning at DMS is on the synthesis of what is modern and latest with the traditional

and ancient, so as to develop holistic managers. DMS, NIT Durgapur, has consistently been ranked

amongst the top Business Schools of the country. While we value the constant encouragement that

these high rankings provide, we do not rest content with what we have achieved, we strive to move

Case Study

The practice of putting students in the shoes of managers and applying theoretical skills to real life

unstructured problems has proved to be a successful approach to learning over the years. Adopting this

strategy, Department of Management Studies, NIT Durgapur exposes its students to case studies, covering an

array of subjects which are discussed in the class by the faculty.

Projects

An integral part of the NIT Durgapur curriculum is the Projects which each student prepares for each subject

during the semester. It’s a combination of the insightful research and analytical thinking on a topic that is a

reflection of what is taught in the classroom and its relation to the current business scenario. The term

Placement Procedure

The campus recruitment of the MBA students is carried out by the department in co-ordination

with the office of Professor-in-Charge Students’ Training and Placement. We request and expect

recruiters to hold a pre placement session where in mutual requirements of the recruiters and

students could be discussed. We also request and expect recruiters to forward the duly filled

placement Performa enclosed with this brochure to the contact address mentioned, so that the

campus recruitment process can take place on mutually convenient dates.

Reaching Durgapur

Durgapur can be reached by air, rail and road. Durgapur (E.Rly) is directly connected with

important cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi. It is

located at distance of about 160 KM from Kolkata.

Recently, Air service has begun from newly built airport at Andal which is 8 KM away from the

main cities and flight connection and frequency are about to increase.

Reaching DMS NIT Durgapur

The institute is about 10 KM away from the Durgapur Railway Station. It is well connected with

roads as well as the National Highway – 2 which is hardly 5KM from the Campus’s Main Gate.
