Cooking EggsA wife was making a breakfast of fried

eggs for her husband. Suddenly, her hus-band burst into the kitchen.

“Careful,” he said, “CAREFUL! Put insome more butter! Oh my GOD!You’re cooking too many at once. TOOMANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW!”

“We need more butter. Oh my GOD!WHERE are we going to get MORE BUT-TER? They’re going to STICK! Careful .CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVERlisten to me when you’re cooking! Never!Turn them! Hurry up!

“Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST yourmind? Don’t forget to salt them. You knowyou always forget to salt them. Use the salt.USE THE SALT! THE SALT!”

The wife stared at him as if he wascrazy. “What in the world is wrong withyou? You think I don’t know how to fry a

couple of eggs?”The husband calmly replied, “I just

wanted to show you what it feels like whenI’m driving.”

Historical FactsIn Shakespeare’s time, mattresses weresecured on bed frames by ropes. When youpulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hencethe phrase…“goodnight, sleep tight.”

It was the accepted practice in Babylon4,000 years ago that for a month after thewedding, the bride’s father would supplyhis son-in-law with all the mead he coulddrink. Mead is a honey beer and becausetheir calendar was lunar based, this periodwas called the honey month, which weknow today as the honeymoon.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints andquarts…So in old England , when custom-ers got unruly, the bartender would yell atthem “Mind your pints and quarts, andsettle down.” It’s where we get the phrase“mind your P’s and Q’s”

Many years ago in England , pub frequent-ers had a whistle baked into the rim, orhandle, of their ceramic cups. When theyneeded a refill, they used the whistle to getsome service. “Wet your whistle” is thephrase inspired by this historical fact.

A good time to keepyour mouth shut iswhen you’re in deepwater.
