Children & Teens Summer Camp ProgramsHave your family take part in an imaginative summer experience that for many children is the highlight of the season. Taught by qualified, professional artists, DVSA Summer Art Camps encourage originality and are designed to develop your child’s creative literacy and art skills – all in a fun and supportive studio environment.

Choose Your Week – Plan Your Days!

We offer 9 sessions of week-long Summer Art Camps running from July 5 – September 3. There are half or full day program options plus extended drop off and pick up times to help accommodate busy schedules.

• Morning camp programs run from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• Afternoon camp programs are from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Children signed up for both the morning and afternoon are automatically a part of the supervised lunch program from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. We strive to be peanut/nut free. Please pack lunches and snacks accordingly.

On-Site Extended Care Is Back!

We’re pleased to continue offering an on-site Extended Care program for our young artists during the summer camp weeks. Offered from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m.* and 3:30 – 6:00 p.m., this program provides the children with a nurturing environment, engaging programming and quality care from our ECE care provider.

Cost: $80 for the week ($64 for 4 day weeks). Full week only, no refunds.

Snacks: Children must bring their own peanut/nut free snacks

Registration: Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Register online at dvsa.ca/classes under Summer Art Camps or call 905-628-6357 #1 to reserve. Availability is limited.

*Regular on-site supervision begins at 9:00 a.m. with classes starting at 9:30 a.m. Pick up is from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.

1C01 Drawing & Painting Ages 4-6 (Online) Weeks 1 – 9 • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.Janine Foertsch, B.A.Further develop your child’s creative literacy skills through traditional and experimental methods of art-making. The artists will explore nature and their imaginations using pencils, ink, pastels and various forms of paint. We’ll celebrate a love for lines and draw and paint with simple steps and familiar shapes. Projects may include landscapes, portraits and still life, involving favourite animals, fantasy creatures and other flights of fancy directly from the screen and storybooks! 1C02 *NEW* Bursts of Colour Ages 4-6Week 1 • AM or PMTina Destro, B.A.Vibrant shades and hues take centre stage for a colourful and active week of drawing, painting and sculpture construction. We’ll explore the techniques of other artists who use wild, wonderful colour in their work and build on their ideas to make our own expressive creations. Drawing objects, painting scenes and using modelling clay and other fun squishy things – it’s a lively studio filled with new friends and dazzling artwork. 1C03 Big Mess! A Paint Spectacular Ages 4-6Weeks 1 & 4 • AM or PMSamantha O’Connell, Hons. B.A.When the creativity flows, things are bound to get messy! Big Mess is for children who LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to paint. We’ll experiment with stenciling, stamping, using strings, brushes, household objects and finger painting to create radiant masterpieces. From pencils to crayons, pastels to markers, charcoal to conté, this class is for kids who love to draw and want to learn about the myriad ways of making their mark. We’ll explore the themes of Animals (Week 2) and Colour (Week 3) as we learn about the work of famous artists and their different techniques and styles. Special storytimes are included each day and the explorers will create a sketchbook and art portfolio of their own. Keep all hands inside the ride, please! In this week of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpting, Lego will provide not just the inspiration, but the means to make great art. We’ll use pieces of Lego as stamps, structures and storytelling in this imaginative “think outside the brick” week of art adventures. 1C09 Treasures in Time Ages 4-6Weeks 7 & 8 • AM or PMSandra Greenblatt, B.A.A week of art activities inspired by the geniuses of the art world! Week 7, we start with cave paintings from the Paleolithic era and move through art history to the 18th century. Week 8, our journey continues from the 19th century through the 20th century, learning about the greatest artworks ever created. A special storytime each day leads to drawing, painting, collage and printmaking projects based upon the style of a particular period or artist. 1C10 *NEW* Good Vibrations: Art and Music Ages 4-6Week 9 • AM or PMTina Destro, B.A.Songs, sounds and musical artists provide the inspiration in this studio filled with drawing, painting and 3-D sculpture activities. We’ll learn about instruments and the sounds they make and discover other visual artists that created works inspired by music. And, of course we’ll make our very own musical instruments – a guitar, a rain stick or something else unique, ready for its part in our magical orchestra. 1C11 *NEW* It’s Storytime! Ages 6-8 Week 9 • AM or PMMichelle Teitsma, Sheridan College Each day is a new chapter in this camp as the young authors and illustrators spend the week writing and creating artwork for their very own storybook. Using creative cues, the authors will tap their imaginations to construct a tale which the instructor will type out for them. Then, it’s on to creating accompanying illustrations using drawing and painting techniques and designing the layout of their book, preparing it for all to read! 1C12 Pottery-Palooza Weeks 1 – 9 • AM Ages 6-7 • PM Ages 8-10Christie Gruppé, B.F.A., Sheridan College/ Reid Flock/ Dawn Hackett-Burns, Sheridan CollegeLaughter Alert: Making pottery is highly addictive and may cause creativity, new ideas and gales of laughter. Your potter will explore the joys of clay in this summer favourite as they tackle fun projects that will build both their wheel and hand building techniques. Release of Liability WaiverA signed release of liability waiver is required for each child and/or adult in order to complete a registration. If you choose to register online, you’ll complete the waiver as part of your registration process. For in-person and phone registrations, be prepared to return a signed waiver form. PaymentFull payment is required at the time of registration. DVSA accepts cash, Visa, Mastercard and Interac.Fees include all materials, registration fee and HST, unless otherwise stated. Age RequirementsOntario Ministry of Education’s Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) requirements stipulate that we are not licensed to provide art camp programming for children under the age of 4 years. Parents with children in programs for 4-6 year olds may be asked for provide proof of age for their child. Please be prepared to have date of birth documentation ready, if requested. Children determined to be too young to participate will be removed from the program without the benefit of a refund or credit.Adult classes are intended for students ages 16+. Students under the age of 16 must receive permission from the Executive Director and course instructor before enrolling.

For Summer Art Camps:

All monetary refunds requested by registrants are subject to a $25+HST administrative fee. Summer Art Camp requests for transfers ($15+HST) and/or monetary refunds must be made 2 weeks prior to the start date of the camp program. With refund requests, 50% of camp fees will be refunded (minus $25+HST admin fee). We are unable to offer monetary refunds after the 2 week notice period.

For Adult Classes:

All monetary refunds requested by registrants are subject to a $25+HST administrative fee. All requests for course refunds must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the start date of a course. If a request is made after the 2 week notice period, but prior to the start date of the course, a 50% refund for the tuition (minus $25+HST admin fee) will be refunded. We are unable to offer monetary refunds after the start date of the course unless there is a prolonged absence due to illness.

Should you request to withdraw from a class/workshop or camp, please be aware the registration fee, model and/or material fees + HST are non-refundable.

Withdrawal is available at any time for doctor-certified medical reasons and a pro-rated percentage of the tuition will be refunded less applicable fees and taxes.
