What is Music?
The word music comes from the Greek mousikê (tekhnê) by way of the Latin musica.
An often-cited definition of music is that it is "organized sound", a term originally coined by modernist composer Edgard Varèse (Goldman
1961, 133) in reference to his own musical aesthetic
Music Language
● Like wise Every language Eg. Hindi, English, Urdu, Chinese etc...
● There are Specific symbol for any alphabet presented by the purticular language to write the same.
● The same way music do have languages by different cultures
● Eg. सस सस सस सस सस सस सस सस (sargam Hindi) or Do Re Me Faa Sol La Ti Do.(Spanish)
Chromatic Scale
● The chromatic scale is a musical scale with twelve pitches, each a semitone above or below another.
● i.e. A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# ......
What is a Flat note
● A flat note is an another way to present Sharp note
● A flat has a symbol of
“♭”we use alphabet “b”, as the flat symbol is not present in computer keyboard.
Sharps & Flats
A# is same as Bb
C# is same as Db
D# is same as Eb
F# is same as Gb
G# is same as Ab
We call them as Enharmonic.
How Could I Remember the notes on guitar?
● First learn the name of each string. The strings are commonly notated, from the highest string, which should be closest to the ground, to the lowest, .
●
i.e. e B G D A E● A useful mnemonic to remember the string arrangement is
Every Body Gets Dinner At Eight.
What is a Scale?
● In music, a scale is any set of musical notes ordered by fundamental frequency or pitch. A scale ordered by increasing pitch is an ascending scale, while descending scales are ordered by decreasing pitch.
How many types of Scale are there?
● There are More than 60 types of scale present for each note of music.
● Although we are going to learn Few of them.
Root, Tone & Semitone
R. The R stands for Root, it means the first note in the scale is the Root Note,
also called the 'Tonic Note'
T. The T stands for Tone, meaning there is another note between the two notes. E.g. A – B or A# - C
S. The S stands for Semitone, meaning there is no note between the two notes. The smallest distance between two notes is a semitone. A - A#

Major Scale
● The major scale or Ionian scale is one of the most commonly used scales. Like many musical scales it is made up of seven notes: the eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note (from Latin "octavus", the eighth).

Natural Scale
● A Natural scale have no Sharp(flat) note present on it .
● C Major Scale is the only Natural Major Scale.● Whereas there are 6 more natural scales
present in Music.● Natural Scale is Denoted by :
Minor Scale
● The “minor” scale or Aeolian scale is one of the most commonly used scales. Like Major scale it is also made up of seven notes: the eighth duplicates the first at double its frequency so that it is called a higher octave of the same note (from Latin "octavus", the eighth).

OCTAVE
Definition: An octave is a musical interval with the distance of:12 half steps in the chromatic scale.
7 or 8 notes in the diatonic scale.(An octave consists of 7 unique notes, but spans 8; octo is Latin for
“eight.”)
Two notes spaced one octave apart sound similar, despite one being higher in pitch. This is because the higher note’s frequency (its pattern of
sound waves) is double the speed of the lower note, but that pattern is the same for both notes - this is the similarity your ear is observing.
CHORD/ ARPEGGIEO
● A chord, in music, is any harmonic set of three or more notes that is heard as if sounding simultaneously. These need not actually be played together: arpeggios and broken chords may, for many practical and theoretical purposes, constitute chords. Chords and sequences of chords are frequently used in modern Western, West African and Oceanian music, whereas they are absent from the music of many other parts of the world.
FORMULA FOR CHORD/ARP
● A basic Chord consists of 3 notes from any Scale (major or minor).
● 1st note + 3rd note + 5th note● R T T ST T T T ST
● C D E F G A B C
