Feeling different, especially as a kid, can be tough. But in the same way that differenttypes of plants and flowers make a garden more beautiful and enjoyable, different typesof people make our world more vibrant and wonderful.
In Just Ask, Sonia Sotomayor celebrates the different abilities kids (and people of allages) have. Using her own experience as a child who was diagnosed with diabetes,Sotomayor writes about children with all sorts of challenges--and looks at the specialpowers those kids have as well. As the kids work together to build a community garden,asking questions of each other along the way, this book encourages readers to do thesame: When we come across someone who is different from us but we're not sure why,all we have to do is Just Ask.
ABOUT SONIA SOTOMAYOR
Sonia Sotomayor was born in the Bronx, New York. She earned a BA from PrincetonUniversity and a JD from Yale Law School. She served as Assistant District Attorney inNew York County, and then as a litigator at Pavia & Harcourt. In 1991, President GeorgeH.W. Bush nominated her to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. In1997, President William Jefferson Clinton nominated her to the U.S. Court of Appeals forthe Second Circuit. President Barack Obama nominated her as an Associate Justice ofthe Supreme Court of the United States on May 26, 2009, and she assumed this roleAugust 8, 2009, becoming the first Latina to ever hold such a high position. She is theauthor of My Beloved World, Turning Pages, and The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor.

ABOUT PAT MORA
Pat is an award-winning author of books for children and adults, a literacy advocate and apopular presenter. Her new children’s book is My Singing Nana, Magination Press. TheUniversity of Arizona Press published her seventh adult poetry collection, Encantado:Desert Monologues. She has published three books of adult nonfiction Zing! SevenCreativity Practices for Educators and Students, a writing memoir and innovation guide;House of Houses, a family memoir; and Nepantla: Essays from the Land in theMiddle. Pat’s poetry collections for young readers include Bookjoy, Wordjoy; Water Rolls,Water Rises; Yum! ¡MmMm! ¡Qué Rico! Confetti, and This Big Sky. Pat also wrote twopoetry collections for young adults, Dizzy in Your Eyes: Poems about Love written in thevoices of teens, and My Own True Name. Among her other children’s books, manyavailable in Spanish or bilingual editions, are Doña Flor: A Tall Tale about a Giant Womanwith a Great Big Heart and Tomás and the Library Lady. Born in El Paso, Texas to aloving, bilingual family, Pat lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
