2. OVERVIEW The World's End is a 2013 British science fiction comedy directed by Edgar Wright. The film follows a group of friends who discover an alien invasion during an epic pub crawl in their home town. Wright has described the film as "social science fiction" in the tradition of John Wyndham and Samuel Youd. 3. DIRECTOR EDGAR WRIGHT Edgar Howard Wright (born 18 April 1974) is an English film and television director, screenwriter and producer. He is most known for his "Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy" consisting of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. He is also the co-director of the television series Spaced. 4. SIMON PEGG is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and film producer. NICK FROST is an English actor, comedian and screenwriter. He is best known for his work with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright in the role of Mike Watt in the television comedy Spaced, as well as Ed in Shaun of the Dead, Danny Butterman in Hot Fuzz, Andrew Knightley in The World's End, Clive Gollings in Paul, and drug dealer Ron in Attack the Block. He is also well known for his various roles in the sketch show Man Stroke Woman. 14. PADDY COSIDINE is an English actor, film director, screenwriter, and musician. He is best known for his portrayals of dark, troubled, and morally or mentally ambiguous characters. 15. MARTIN FREEMAN is an English actor. He is best known for his portrayals of Tim Canterbury in The Office, Dr. Watson in Sherlock, and Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jacksons The Hobbit film trilogy. He won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for Sherlock (2011). 16. BOX OFFICE The World's End earned 2,122,288 ($3,242,064 USD) during its UK opening weekend, losing the top spot to Monsters University. Its weekend grosses were higher than Shaun of the Dead's 1.6 million but lower than Hot Fuzz's 5.4 million. The World's End also had the highest per-theater average out of all films in theaters throughout the US on its opening day. 17. ACCOLADES The World's End received two Critics' Choice Movie Awards nominations, for Best Actor in a Comedy (for Simon Pegg) and for Best Comedy, ultimately losing out to The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle respectively. 18.
