I. Equipment Storage

Batteries are numbered to the specific camera they belong with and they are

stored on their specific numbered chargers in the bin

in the equipment closet

Camera bodies and lenses have numbered caps to keep dirt and dust out. All the numbered parts remain

together! When not using caps, store back in the storage

pockets, not on desks!

II. Equipment Sign Out

An equipment order form must be completed with your name in order to sign out equipment.

This says that you are responsible for the equipment you are signing out.

Equipment restrictions and replacement costs are possible if the equipment is misused in your care

You cannot use big cameras and audio kit

III. Handling the CamerasFour Basic Rules:

1. Do not drop cameras or subject to any physical shock

2. Cameras and lenses are not waterproof and should not be used in the rain or around liquids

3. Never touch the mirror in the Canon camera body or the glass on the either side of any of the camera lenses

4. Use a soft cloth, not your finger, to remove dust and fingerprints from the mirror & lenses

III. Handling the Cameras• For the Canons, always place camera body cap and lens

caps on when not in use• Never store lenses on their side (they can roll)• For the Sony HandyCams, always close the shutter doors

when not filming

III. Handling the Cameras

You have to use a 32gig SDHC card for filming in the Canons. You can

borrow one in exchange for your

student ID

A regular SD card goes in the side of

HandyCam 6

The GoPro uses a mini SD card. I will handle that for you

III. Handling the Cameras

1. For the Canon T3i, take correct numbered battery off charger

2. Open door at bottom of camera

3. Insert Battery in SLOWLY

4. Do not JAM the battery in! If it doesn’t slide right in, you are putting it in the wrong way, or you have the wrong battery (we have four different kinds of batteries)!

• To Attach the Lens to the Canon Camera:1. Align White Boxes or Red Dots

2. Twist Counter Clockwise until you hear a click

• To Remove the Lens from the Canon Camera: 1. Press and hold release button next to lens, and twist clockwise

You must switch to VIDEO CAMERA mode by aligning the icon with the white hash mark

• Zooming allows you to move your subject closer in frame without actually moving closer to the subject

• Manually control using Zoom Ring

• For selective focus (throwing the focus), set switch to the MF setting

• Requires you to manually focus on subject using the Focus Ring

IV. Returning Equipment

When done using the Canon T3i Camera: 1. Remove SDHC card and place at your desk2. Remove the battery and place on the charger with that number 3. Put numbered body cap back on the camera body and place back in

numbered pocket with strap in pocket4. Put numbered lens caps on lens and place back in numbered pocket

Once the cork base is removed from the tripod, simply screw it into the base of

the camera

Next, with the camera secured to the base, fit the base back into the top of the tripod and close the latch securing

it.

TIP: Always double check to make sure the base is secured to the
