Member Requirements

To ensure member companies provide the best possible consumer services, they are required to be accredited, in-good-standing members of the Better Business Bureau. Additionally, member companies must offer consumers educational materials about the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act. Member companies must also comply with the U.S. Organizations for Bankruptcy Alternatives’ best practices as they relate to client consulting, financial management, and client services, among other areas. Some best practices only apply to companies at the front or back end of the process. For instance, the negotiations standards, relate exclusively to consumer debt negotiation companies.
