VISIT MIRANO WITH ITS BEAUTIFUL VILLAS AND PARKS

Mirano is set in a strategic position at a short distance from Venice, Padova and Treviso, the most beautiful tourist attractions of the region.

The origin of Mirano goes back to Roman times, here in the 17th and 18th

centuries the rich Venetians built their aristocratic villas in the contryside which can still be admired today.

WHAT TO SEE Villa Belvedere is the most impressive site in Mirano. It was built in the 19th century, it is surrounded by a romantic park with a pond, hill and a small castle in Neogothic style Inside the Villa there is the seat of the Centre for historical and environmental documentation.

St. Michael’s Cathedral

The cathedral was built in 1696, inside visitors can admire a painting by Tiepolo and a beautiful fresco of the Last Judgement painted by Giovanni De Min

This is the Neogothic Castle, a small octagon tower with five storeys, the interior can be climbed by a winding staircase up to the "Belvedere" tower, under the Castelletto there is a cave and a tunnel that leads into the villa.

At Swarovski shop you can buy all types of jewellery: rings, necklaces, bracelets, all very precious and expensive

At “Quello Giusto” shop you can find original shoes, boots, clothes, bags and pochettes

“Freitag” is an important shop of bags, if you want to buy beautiful and useful suitcases, wallets and bags.This shops is very expensive and famous in the world.

… TIME OUT

In Mirano there are a lot of attractions ,there is a theatre, a bowling alley, discos (like “The Box”), cafès, bars and numerous sport facilities, for example there is a swimming pool, gyms, a stadium with a football pitch and an athletics track.

This is the new multiscreen cinema and theatre and it is also a meeting place. On Tuesdays people pay only € 2 to see a film, it's cheap!

The “Box” is a place that you can make new friendships and where young people spend a lot of their free time. It's also a pub/restaurant, there is music, and guys dancing! This pub is situated behind the bowiling alley

This is the team “Rugby Mirano” playing at the stadium. More and more boys have been playing this sport in the last few years, every Sunday the stadium is crowded with fans.

The Iguazu Bowling alley: it's a place where young people hang out with their friends and have a good time! It's also a bar and there are game rooms where you can play pool and have a drink.

EVENTS

The Flower Fair On 25th April every year, the central square of Mirano becames a colourful place where you can find a lot of types of flowers. It attracts thousands of people from the surrounding area to enjoy this festival which marks the beginning of the Spring season.

The Sports Festival is held the first week of June, It promotes the importance of physical exercise and sport, a lot of tournaments and matches of different types of sports are organized; this event is particularly popular with the young.

The Goose Fair and the Goose Game

The second week in November the goose becomes the protagonist of games, entertainment and a thousand delicacies .

The most important event is the Game of the Goose in the Square: six teams compete by the rules of the classic game around a board in the main square. In addition to the game, the festival includes a goose market, delicious local food, stalls and other games to play.

There is even a beauty contest for the birds "Miss Goose" which will select the most beautiful bird.

During the festival everything goes back in time: the square is decorated with flags and banners of the past, the people wear old clothes and accessories.

White night

A Saturday night in mid-June, shops and pubs in

Mirano centre stay open until after midnight, the town gets lively, romantic and bustling with people throughout the night as well as the day

Weekly market

On Monday mornings in the town centre you can buy quite everything : food (such as chicken, fruit and

vegetables, cheese), clothes, flowers, accessories, etc.

St Matthew’s Fair

This old traditional fair dates back to 1477 and is held the third week of September every year. In the centre of Mirano there is a furnfair, rides and stalls selling sweets and all types of goods, there are a lot of young people, music and entertainments

The Chocolate Festival

this festival opens the Christmas period in December. In the centre of Mirano there are a lot of stands selling a huge variety of chocolate.

The Flea market

It takes place the third Sunday each month and there are a lot of stands with pieces of period furniture and vintage junk.

In Mirano there are excellent restaurants, pubs and cafès; the town is packed with venues where to eat and drink. You can find good restaurants, traditional “trattorias” where you can taste delicious local food and have a good time.

The area is famous for its tasty cuisine. Its regional specialities are rice soup and risotto dishes.

The list is long: rice with potatoes, rice with peas, rice with chickory, rice with wild hop, rice with nettles, rice with cabbage, rice with zucchini, chicken and chicken liver risotto, fish risotto, squid risotto, scallop risotto, mussel risotto, and more.

Other popular dishes are: pennette with chickory, stuffed duck, tagliatelle with duck sauce, spaghetti with hare sauce, hare or rabbit "alla cacciatora", And finally, the Mirano speciality, Easter Cake, must not be forgotten.
