NEWS OF THE SOCIETIES The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Third Annual Meeting The Society of Thoracic Surgeons held their third annual meeting Janu- ary 23, 24, and 25, 1967, at the Muehlebach Hotel, Kansas City, Missouri. Three hundred and six members of the Society attended the three-day session, and there were 189 guest registrants. A series of postgraduate lectures was given on the day preceding the annual meeting. There were 144 registrants for this course. At the annual business meeting, January 24, 1967, the following officers were elected: Donald L. Paulson, President; Lyman A. Brewer 111, Vice-president; Francis X. Byron, Secretary; Robert G. Ellison, Treasurer; John D. Steele, Editor; R Adams Cowley and Hiram T. Langston, Councilors. The following were elected to active membership: Isam N. Anabtawi, Augusta, Ga.; John E. W. Baay, Erie, Pa.; Arthur C. Beall, Jr., Houston, Tex.; Robert L. Berger, Brighton, Mass.; Kelly M.
