• The five Olympic rings represent the five major regions of the world – Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania, and every national flag in the world includes one of the five colors, which are (from left to right) blue, yellow, black, green, and red.

• Up until 1994 the Olympics were held every four years. Since then, the Winter and Summer games have alternated every two years.

• Lake Placid, New York hosted the Winter Olympics twice once in 1932 and then again in 1980• Every Olympics, the Olympic torch is lit in Olympia, Greece and is carried over by famous

athletes to lit the cauldron where the Olympic event is held. • This Olympic game, the torch went to the moon and had it’s first ever spacewalk.

Sochi has the Caucasus Mountains, pebble and sand beaches on the Black sea. The city attracts vacation-goers in the summer with its subtropical vegetation, parks, and monuments.

Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and lies in the Caucasus mountain range.

In Sochi, Winter Daily highs are around 50°F with plenty of sun and in the summer it averages about 75 degrees. A normal Russian winter is negative 5 to negative 30. Sochi is the warmest place in Russia.
