SDL CertificationSDL Certification is an industry recognised technology-based certification that demonstrates a standard of excellence in SDL software. SDL Certification provides courseware and exams through a professional and well-structured training program to prove proficiency using SDL Trados Studio or SDL MultiTerm.

Online on-demand lecturer trainingLecturers and course tutors can access training modules online with the tools and tips on using SDL CAT tools as part of their translation toolkit. Our online training is delivered via our secure community portal and is recorded for on-demand viewing.

Discounts on SDL Trados Studio softwareFor the universitySDL provides special pricing for the university to purchase our translation technology software, to supply the tools to teach and to train translation technology in the most cost effective way possible. For students and graduatesStudents studying at universities which are part of the SDL University Partner Program qualify for a student discount. The discount continues for up to a year after graduation. This offer is extended to lecturers at these universities who are also given the opportunity to purchase their own freelance license at a discounted price.

Keeping you informedAs an SDL University Partner you will be kept up to date with the latest developments in SDL translation technology. We will do this by connecting you to the SDL University Community Portal which is a repository of information about the program. You will receive email updates and a chance to join webinars to keep you informed. Student events offer the chance for them to network with professional translators and Language Service Providers (LSPs). Speaking opportunities at events will give lecturers the opportunity to share their experiences and teaching practices.

Requirements

What are the entry requirements for universities to join the program?To be eligible to participate in the SDL University Program it is a prerequisite that the university is using the most recent version of the SDL Trados Studio software.

You should also be an academic institution and not a commercial training organization.

Graduation and beyondFor graduates that have passed the SDL Certification exams, SDL will provide assistance towards owning their version of the software, to support their transition to becoming a professional freelance translator. Simply apply to us via education@sdl.com, ask about the graduation discount offer for new full licenses and information will also be made available via the course tutor.
