The Rosary by Blessed James Alberione
So that Christ may live in us
“The rosary helps us to be conformed ever
more closely to Christ until we attain true
holiness.” (RVM n. 26). St. John Paul II
Right from the beginning of his foundations, Blessed James Alberione made this program the hinge of the human, spiritual and apostolic formation of many young people, men and women religious, priests, families and laity, inviting them to imitate the Apostle Paul in his love for Christ and in his passion for the Gospel.
To whoever desires to travel through “the way of conformation to Christ”, he points out two vital springs:
the Word of God and the Eucharist celebrated and silently adored. It is here that the Spirit molds the
hearts of the “new apostles,” making them a place in which dwells a “living” Christ, and acting with
determination and creativity.
We need to attach ourselves to the
rosary like a rope that is held by the hand of Mary and
then, we climb upwards, toward
heaven!” (ASGbp 1957, 438).
“The rosary is a short theology if it is considered as a whole; it is a summary of the
catechism…. You could also call it the little theology of Jesus and of Mary. Together with the truths of the faith is interwoven the life of
Jesus, the life of Mary” (APddm 1961, 234).
“In the rosary is reflected
as in a mirror the consideration of a truth (Jesus
is the Truth for the mind), the practice of a virtue
(Jesus is the Way for the will), a grace to ask for
(Jesus is Life for the heart).
So it is for each mystery. Yours are rosaries that
bring the intelligence to understand, the will to
practice, the heart to love and to unite itself
to God!” (APDDM 1946-47, 357).
