Today you are going to write a diary entry. I want you to imagine that you have just been awarded a SENESCYT scholarship to study abroad (it could be in the UK, the USA, Australia etc…). The diary entry could be made before you leave, after your first day or after your first week (or three shorter entries covering three different dates). It must be 500-600 words long.

Formal features of a diary:

• MUST be headed by a date!!!!• address e.g. “Dear diary”

Stylistic features of a diary:

• informal register (use of informal language)• written in the first person e.g. “I found out today

writing)• talking to your diary as if it were a person
