The reason I decided to choose the disciplines that I am currently studying is that I have
always wanted to work in management. Human resources, organizational management, and
finally communication studies are all key concepts in being a successful manager. The current
version can go in a multiple directions as there are two benefits of asking overachieving
questions as our text points out, “The question can deepen an existing line of inquiry and
possibly initiate a new line of inquiry, and the question can help draw out interrelationships
among phenomena. Disciplines can rarely explain all aspects of a complex problem.” (Repko,
A.F. 2012)
The focus question that is applied to our current situation of human trafficking is using
my three areas of discipline that come to an overall solution for the problem. The focus
question that I have been focusing on during my studies is what are the key concepts on
resolving human trafficking within today`s world?
The one discipline that I will be discussing in our discussion board this week is human
resources which is the discipline that strongly relates to organizational management. However,
human resources focuses on hiring of personal within our organizations, administration, legal
policies such as sexual discrimination, and finally training of all personal within the organization.
The first summary of information I have been able to locate within my interdisciplinary research
is that today`s United States flight attendants seek training for looking for particular trafficking
victims. The association of flight attendants (AFA) has over 50,000 members and 18 airlines in
the sky. If they had the proper training in advance they could notify local law enforcement
agencies and slow down the 14,500-17,500 victims placed into human trafficking every year.

recently passed new human trafficking bill 99-0. This reference located applies that new more
strict laws be placed to increase penalties against predators and more support for the victims of
sexual human trafficking. It also implies that it gives local and national law enforcement
agencies the strength to fight against human trafficking. Before we can live a free life of human
trafficking throughout the world we need to step up the training efforts in all organizations such
as the airline industry and our local law enforcement agencies but we need to set the record
straight to the predators and animals that are a part of this crime. We are not going to stand
back and watch you use these victims. The new more strict laws for these predators and more
support for the victims will ensure a cut back in this crime. The second reference was located

I have spent numerous hours at the Lubbock public library locating scholarly forms of
information for my studies. One of the books I located is Breaking Free: True stories of girls who
escaped modern slavery Retrieved from Lubbock Public Library ISBN # 978-1-4380-04532. This
source told me men in Cambodia will pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to rape a virgin for a
week because of a virgin’s magical powers. Then sadly they are sewn up and sold again for a
predator`s profit. That alone wants me to help locate information on what needs to be done to
fight this terrible crime we have in the world. Finally, I have learned this week that one should
focus their attention on books for credible forms of information and then turn to potential
journals. I end this discussion with a quote from our text which states, “In reading and thinking
about the sources one gathers, one should ask these two questions: What counts as evidence in
this discipline? And what kind of evidence is this disciplinary author omitting that would shed
additional light on the problem?”
