Moon Diary-March 29, 2006

• Today was a New Moon. • When looking at the

location of the moon with a bird’s eye view, the moon is in between the sun and the earth.

• Therefore, since the same side of the moon is always illuminated and we see the moon as it is rotating around the earth, ,we see a new moon.

Moon Diary-April 3, 2006.

• Today was a Waxing Crescent.

• When look at the location of the moon with a bird’s eye view, the moon is underneath the earth and to the left, but is still in between the sun and the earth.

• Therefore, since the same side of the moon is always illuminated and we see the moon as it is rotating around the earth, we see the waxing crescent.

Moon Diary-April 5, 2006

• Today was a first quarter, half moon.

• When look at the location of the moon with a bird’s eye view, the moon is directly underneath the earth.

• Therefore, since the same side of the moon is always illuminated and we see the moon as it is rotating around the earth, we see the half moon.

Moon Diary-April 13, 2006

• Today was a full moon. • When look at the location

of the moon with a bird’s eye view, the moon is left of the earth and the earth is in-between the sun and the moon.

• Therefore, since the same side of the moon is always illuminated and we see the moon as it is rotating around the earth, we see the full moon.

Moon Diary-April 21, 2006

• Today was a third quarter, half moon.

• When look at the location of the moon with a bird’s eye view, the moon is directly above the earth.

• Therefore, since the same side of the moon is always illuminated and we see the moon as it is rotating around the earth, we see the half moon.
