Greetings fellow franchisees, franchisors, and suppliers!

The momentum is building, the time is getting closer, and the program is staged for the best franchisee conference to get even better! I hope you will join us at the next annual Multi-Unit Franchising Conference, March 24–27, 2019 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas!

As the founder of a multi-unit, multi-concept company, my availability is tight, but I have always made time to attend this great event. After 40 years in the business, I am still learning! In addition to the informative content of the conference and meeting many successful multi-unit operators, the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference remains a must-attend event each year.

Over the 15 years I have attended, I’ve always learned new and innovative things—legal issues, recruiting techniques, the latest software, hot new franchise concepts, the latest in consumer trends, and entertaining and educational speakers. Maybe most of all, it’s seeing old friends and mak-ing new ones in the business, while exchanging ideas and solutions to the common issues we all face.

I am proud to serve as a Conference Advisory Board member for most of those years and seeing the conference grow year after year. I am excited to serve as the Chair of our 2019 conference and follow in the footsteps of some great former chairs who have served before me.

Jon Taffer is a highly respected entertainer, entrepreneur, and consultant with more than 35 years in the entertainment, hospitality, and nightlife business. Leveraging extensive global experience with powerhouse brands, he offers guidance on transformation, training programs, and his trademarked “reaction management” strategy. Areas of expertise include product and brand recognition, merchandising promotions, customer acquisition, product marketing, go-to-market strategy, TV, and public speaking. He hosts and is executive producer of Bar Rescue, a non-scripted reality TV show that premiered in 2011 and spotlights Jon as he saves failing bars from looming closure. He is the author of Raise the Bar: An Action-Based Method for Maximum Customer Reactions, and runs Taffer Virtual Teaching, his digital teaching platform, and Taffer Dynamics, his business consulting firm. He has consulted for well-known brands including the NFL Network, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, InterContinental, TGI Fridays, Buffalo Wild Wings, Famous Dave’s, Wolfgang Puck Express, and Anheuser-Busch. He has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Rolling Stone, and the New York Times.

John Volanthen is a British caver and cave diver who has been at the forefront of cave exploration since combining caving and diving. He has been involved in exploring and mapping caves throughout the world, often with dive partner Richard (Rick) Stanton. During the 2018 Tham Luang incident in Thailand, they successfully located the missing children and participated in their extraction and rescue, leading the team 2.5 miles through a flooded cave buried deep inside a mountain. In 2004, he and Stanton set a world record for the greatest depth achieved in a British cave. In 2010, he, Stanton, Jason Mallinson, and René Houben set a world record for longest cave penetration dive. He has been involved in a number of search, rescue, and recovery incidents including the recovery of Paul Esser, the Gleision Colliery flooding, and the search for Eric Establie in France, for which John was awarded the Royal Humane Society Bronze medal.
