Hello and welcome to The Pentecostals of Sydney where you can experience new life in Christ!Power for Living

As born again believers, we have our sins washed away in baptism and we are given the promise of God’s Holy Spirit as a gift. This is not merely a gift to be enjoyed but it is the indwelling of God himself within us to give us power. There are varying ideas of power and in the world there is a constant pursuit for power. However, the power that humanity needs the most is the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to have joy, peace and hope that transcends human circumstances as Romans 15:13 tells us; “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

We are enabled to fulfill God’s calling to witness Acts 1:8 tells us that “…ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you….”

He helps and comforts us (John 14:16-17). He will guide us in to all truth, (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit gives us the strength and authority to stand firm in trials and temptations (Eph 3:16-17). The Spirit of God empowers us with gifts and supernatural ability to help others and bless the Church. (1 Cor 12, Eph 4:11-12)

However, the greatest empower that we can receive is when on that great day, even after we have passed this life, we will be resurrected to ever be with God, should the rapture tarry.

Romans 8:11-12 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

The secret for the power for living is found in verses 13-14 of Romans 8:

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

To have the power of God’s spirit active in our lives, we must die to the flesh and walk in the Spirit. Yield our hearts, emotions, mind, lifestyle, habits, routine, bodies and lives to the Spirit of God and we will release His power.

This month I challenge you to be filled with the Spirit and to walk therein like never before. To realize that it is the Spirit of Jesus Christ who fights our battles and gives us the victory.

The Timothy SessionsThursday, 17 May 2012 7:00pm - 9:00pm

The Timothy Sessions is a mentoring program run by Pastor Stan. On a Thursday night every month or two Pastor Stan, or other ministers within the POS, teach lessons full of insight regarding leadership, ministry, ethics etc.

This is a great opportunity for you to grow in maturity and in your walk with God. So bring your Bible, your notepad and be ready to learn!

Midweek ServiceWednesday, 30 May 2012 7:30pm

Throughout the month on Wednesdays we get together in homes across Sydney to worship, grow and fellowship but on the final Wednesday of each month we have a Combined Service at the POS. This is always a wonderful time of worship and teaching. Don’t miss out!

Transfusion is an event hosted by the ReWired Youth. It is always a great weekend that is catered towards the young people.

This year we are blessed to have the UPCA National Youth President, Jonathan Downs, as our guest speaker. He is a gifted speaker and his very passionate about young people. We look forward to a great weekend in the House of God!

MothersMay is the month we celebrate Mothers!

Everywhere in the shopping malls and many other places, they are reminding us that Sunday 13th May is Mother’s Day! Slogans like, ‘Make this the best Mother’s Day ever’ or ‘Make your mother feel special’ are all around.

I have the privilege of being at both ends…a mother and a daughter…and a grandmother (that sounds so old…even though I am not!)

Any mother will tell you that there is nothing that she would not want to give her children even if it means doing without herself. But the greatest thing that I can give my children, is not something physical, it is spiritual. Praying and interceding for my children is the greatest thing I can do for them. Education, marriage, financial stability are all important but they will mean nothing in light of eternity. I believe prayers never die and even though we may pass away, the prayers we have prayed will bear fruit in our children’s lives.

To my children, I want to be known as a good cook, good housekeeper, loving, caring and giving but more importantly I want to be known to them as a pray-er, a worshipper and a lover of God and His word. That is the example I want to be to them. What about you? How do you want to be known by your children?

Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents America ever, had said, "I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." How wonderful is that! How precious his mother’s prayers must have been to him!

We give honour to all our mothers! You are greatly loved and appreciated!

Sunday SchoolSunday school operates every Sunday morning after worship beginning at 10:30am. We have a multitude of classes, which cater to children between the ages of 4 to 18. Classes are located

upstairs so make sure your children are getting the most out of the their visit to the POS.

Life StudiesLife Studies are an enjoyable, non-threatening way to learn more about the Bible. We can meet with you in your home, our home, or a coffee shop. The studies are less than an hour but have the power to change your life. Contact one of our hosts if you would like to start a Life Study.

Infants Ministry - The ArkWe take children from 2-3years old in the mornings and 2-4year olds in the evening.

The Infants Room is open from the end of Praise and Worship Service.

In 'The Ark' we have a structured program from beginning to end.

Our program consists of 4 components...Praise, Bible Story, Snack Time & Craft.

The  children learn about God in a safe and fun environment.

ReWired YouthWe understand that High School, Uni and Tafe are times of much change- Physical, Mental and even Spiritual. Whether you're the big man at school or the quiet one in the back of the class you have a place at Rewired Youth.

Come along to a dynamic service on Friday nights at 7:30pm- with skits, games and a message aimed right at you, we guarantee you'll have a great time.

Fijian MinistryWe are blessed at the POS to have a large population of Fijians attend our assembly. In order to reach out to the Fijian community we have a Fijian Ministry. Once a month there is a Fijian Speaking Service at 3pm on a Sunday. This service includes preaching, worship and fellowship following. They also gather monthly for prayer and evangelism.
