Appleby Westward MD leavesAppleby Westward Group has announced that its managing director John Pattison has resigned and has also appointed Simon Warren as head of store recruitment.
Pattison has been with Appleby Westward since December 2008 when he took up the position of group business director. He was appointed managing director in April 2009 and will leave the business at the end of September.
He said: “I’ve very much enjoyed my time with the business, and would wish to thank the shareholders and staff for their support.”
Leo Crawford, chairman of Appleby Westward, said: “We entirely respect John’s desire to progress his career in a new direction and are working with him to effect an efficient handover before he leaves at the end of September. We will be seeking a replacement expediently, and will make a further announcement once an appointment has been made.”
Simon Warren has been involved in store recruitment for the last six years and will now be responsible for spearheading a store recruitment drive, seeking to attract 24 convenience stores
DBC Foodservice has appointed Jo Elder as director of independent and new business sales.
Elder is responsible for growing DBC’s independent sector, and will also leverage new business opportunities.
She has 20 years’ experience in the catering industry and has worked for Loxtonfoodco and Greencore. She will report to Tony Rowlands, DBC’s recently appointed new sales director.

Confex member New Delhi Cash & Carry has appointed Christian Berger as trading manager.
His responsibilities within New Delhi Cash & Carry are category purchasing and marketing of the new supermarket in Liverpool
which takes them into the retail arena. He will be managing the IT system overhaul, improving stock control and the purchasing function as well as business planning and development of imports and exports.
Berger was previously a trading manager at Costco and was also previously at Parfetts.
Kemal Aslan, director of New Delhi Cash & Carry, said: “Christian has a vast experience within the wholesale and retail sector and brings with him a wealth of knowledge. Christian is a valuable addition to our team and while he will play an ongoing role within the wholesale side of the business, he will primarily be focusing on the development of the supermarket.”
Pair departing from Spar UKSpar UK has announced that both Steve Blackmore and Richard Bennett will be leaving the company.
Steve Blackmore, supply chain and management information director for Spar UK, will be retiring at the end of 2011.
Spar says that there are no plans to replace the role and the team in both supply chain and management information will be assigned to new departments over the course of the year.
Richard Bennett, retail director for Spar UK, has resigned and will be leaving the business at the end of the summer. Confirmation of his new role with be made mid August.
