Only the Lord is God

And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench

about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. (1 Kings 18.32).

In this month, I would like that my fellow brothers meditate on chapter 17 and 18 of the first book of Kings, where the ministry of Elijah started a tisbitte, called to confront the wicked king Ahab.

In this space I will not write in

details about this memorable epi-sode of the history of Israel, but I will only speak of the following verse: (1 Kings 18.36).

He had gathered the rocks which the Lord had put there to build an altar in the Name of the Lord. These objects represent eternal truths that have been revealed to us, for they

are part of the Rock, who is the Lord Jesus. Do the same to prepare the al-tar of the divine operation in your life, your family and your business. Never forget to use the weapons of justice (2 Co 6.4-10).

Like Elijah, we have to show who the true God is. The world expects much more from us than what has been seen. However, in order for this to happen, we need to live inside the boundaries of the Word, like servants in everything. Do not ask the Lord to bless your plans, but to bless you in order to follow His plans and to walk in the good works he has prepared (Ef 2.10).

So, when everything is before the altar, The Almighty may use you as he had planned. Thus, you will see how much he can use yourselves and also assist you. After preparing everything and leave no room so no one could think of some trick, Eli-jah came before God - must have been in fear and trembling! - And asked for confirmation of Heaven.

It was the largest and most rapid change occurring before a crowd. The moment they saw the fire of God fall, they did not remember the presence of the sorcerer king or the

drought that made them languish-ing for three years and six months, but acknowledged that the Lord is God: When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD —he is God! The LORD —he is God! (1 Kings 18.39).

Every night, in prime-time TV, we have repeated the prayer of Eli-jah, and the fire has fallen. With that, thousands of people have yelled - in their homes, in a hotel room, a hospital, a prison, in the

workplace and elsewhere - that the Lord is God! The work of the Almighty is so important to the Lord, that if for some reason we stopped doing what we are com-manded, He will not hold us guilt-less. So servants of God keep up and move forward!

“We do not want you to be uninformed brothers, about the hardship we suffered in the prov-ince of Asia. We were under great pressure,far beyond our ability to endure, so we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sen-tence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead .He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us . On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us(2 Corinthi-ans1:8-10);

This are not the words of any or-dinary person but the words of the

greatest missionary of all times, the apostle Paul. Even the apostle Paul had to go through severe testing times; he says that he was so desperate that he thought he was going to die. The ques-tion is why did God allow Paul to go through this intense suffering? Could not God have just blessed Paul and made life easy and smooth without any troubles? God had a purpose for allow-ing Paul to go through the very des-perate and dangerous situation. Paul says these severe troubles happened to them so that they might not rely on their own abilities and smartness but rather completely depend on God. God showed Paul and his companions

that He could deliver them in any situation. Hence Paul’s faith increased and he could boldly say. “ GOD DELIV-ERED US AND HE WILL DELIVER US AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO DELIVER US. You may be going through the most difficult situation in your life; but just believe and trust that the same God who delivered Paul can and will deliver you however bad your situation maybe.

THE GOD WHO ALWAYS DELIVERS

Family

The housewife Flavia Souza Freire, 34, couldn’t be happier. She suffered for knowing that her husband, Fer-

nando Neves Freire, of the same age, didn’t believe in Jesus. “Our companion-ship was always difficult. He was very fond of sprees and drunkenness, and constantly offended me with inappro-priate words,” she recalls. “I had to go to the meetings in hiding. Otherwise, He would be so revolted that he threw my things out of the house”.

Tired, Flavia thought about giving up the dream of one day of a happymarried life. “It seemed like nothing was happening. There was a moment that I thought of throwing it all away, but the pastor who conducted the meetings of faith of the Dr. R. R. Soares brought a word of God that gave me hope, “she says.

Fernando, on his turn, did not show the slightest desire to escort his

wife to church. But the miraculous cure of a kidney problem - a cyst that disappeared while he was watching the TV show Mission - began to change his view about the Kingdom of God. Then the woman began to act by faith.

One time at Christmas, she knew there would be a special activity in the Church. Hopefully, she made clothes prepared for Fernando. “At the last moment, I decided to go. I thought it would be good to give that joy to my wife,” says Fernando. At that point, he didn’t know, but he was already expe-riencing the touch of Christ in his life.

The climate of peace and hap-

piness of the congregation touched Fernando. “I decided I would stay there, but when I got to my house, my brother in law invited me to a binge and I didn’t resist,” he says. However, unlike what always happened, this time he got sick with drinking. “On the following weekend, I opened my heart to Jesus. Now people respect me and recognize me as someone that God has changed history,” he says. To-day, he is a minister of the Gospel and lives happily with his wife. “He not only converted to the evangelical faith but today preaches the Word,” rejoices Flavia.

Flavia had the joy of seeing her husband set free from alcohol and become a preacher of the Gospel

Lima, the capital of Peru, lived two un-forgettable nights in the presence of the Lord with the holding of the cam-

paign A New Story on July, 11 and Sep-tember, 12. Hundreds of Peruvians gath-ered in the temple of International Church of the Grace of God to hear the faith mes-sage of Dr. Soares.

On the first meeting, the leader and founder of the Church preached based on

the book of Romans 3.21, 22 and taught that, before Jesus, the Law of Moses ruled, and people had to do everything with perfection

to receive a blessing, which was impossible. “With the coming of Jesus, grace came, the justice of God that works through our faith”, he highlighted. According to the preacher,

many say they have faith, but, in fact, they be-lieve in anything; the true faith only exists in Jesus. “The justice of God works on the lives

of those who surrendered it in the hands of the Lord. Who didn’t do it yet has no right to

enjoy of this gift”, said Dr. Soares, who also quoted the text of Romans 5.17.

On the second meeting, Dr. Soares spoke based on the biblical text of Deuter-onomy 28.45-48 and instructed the peo-

ple to pay attention to the revelation of the Word of God, because it is the Way to the blessing. “The Word is open Path of the

Lord for your life, so that you can achieve His blessing. No one can walk it for you”. The Bible says that those who do not obey to His Word will be punished. “Pay atten-tion to the Word; It is the Revelation that you need to conquer today”.

Then the Dr. Soares performed the prayer of faith, which was done in accordance with Rev. Messias Castro, leader of the Church, and many testified their miracles.

The pains in the bones prevented Graciela Acenedo of having a normal life for five

years. “I am completely healed”.

Cesar Herrera suffered of pains in the legs due to a thrombosis. After the prayer of

faith, the pains disappeared.

Luz Marina Sanchez began to testify that she got totally rid of the pains that tormented

her for five years.

For eight years, Roberto Perez was dependent on medicine. After listening to the Word, he

was set free and came back to give a testimony.

Over eight months, Jose Neglia Saavedra suffered with persistent pains in the back,

which vanished after the prayer.

Cesar Chavez stayed three years without moving the knees. After the intercession, He

Send your question to Dr. Soares: [email protected]

Do the Holy Scriptures stimu-

late the human beings to be vegetarians?

Neither vegetarians nor carnivo-rous, for this a personal choice and

should be respected by all. Jesus and His disciples weren’t vegetarians, for they ate fish and lamb - this, at least once, for it was Passover. Other peo-ple at that time didn’t eat meat, only seeds, bread and vegetables. The real important Food and that all should eat is the Bread which came down from Heaven. The Holy Scriptures identify this as the Lord Jesus, who gives us eternal life. Just as the peo-ple who don’t feed themselves prop-erly and become weak, those who don’t feed themselves with the Word of God become spiritually weak. It is not enough to know by heart what the Bible says, but to feed yourself, take the revelation into your interior and make it the basis for your an-swer and everything in life.

Dr. Soares, I would like to know if it is a sin to be married without being a virgin. Will God not bless this marriage?

God created sex as a privilege to be enjoyed by the married couples. It represent the most mutual, plea-surable and radical delivery that a human being can experience. Through it that spouses achieve the highest degree of intimacy and unite physically and spiritually, as if they were one person. Something so spe-cial can’t be treated as an ordinary caress or physiological satisfaction as it, unfortunately, happen in the world today. Now, if a person dis-covers this truth only when he/she is no longer a virgin, this person must look for help in Jesus, who makes all things new.

and no price too high when it comes to matters regarding wisdom! Maybe with a bit of curiosity about Solomon, per-haps also wanting to acquire wisdom, that queen left for Israel.

The greater the effort, the more sweet is the flavor of the prize. The higher the price, the more valuable is the treasure. So it is with wisdom! Think about the effort you have un-dertaken to acquire it! Do you spend

five minutes a day reading at least one chapter of the Bible, which is the Source of all wisdom?

We live in a self-indulgent, instant rewards society. We want to obtain all things without effort and now! How-ever, we see in the example of this fa-mous queen a willingness to sacrifice and commit her, doing everything possible on the attempt to find an-swers to life’s questions. Follow the example of this woman today! Seek the wisdom that comes from God’s Word and you’ll see, day by day, your life being transformed for the better!

The Queen of Sheba

Hello dear friends, how are you? In this month’s edition we’ll speak of a woman well known in the Bible,

the queen of Sheba. In the 6th century B.C., there wasn’t network news about Solomon, the king of Israel. The infor-mation was passed slowly, according to the pace of people or the passing of cam-els and donkeys.

Laggardly, the news of this wise king who served a powerful God came

to Sheba, located almost two thousands south of Jerusalem. When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the LORD, she came to test Solomon with hard questions (1 Kings 10.1).

Seated in her palace, the Queen of Sheba must have reflected carefully about the various information she re-ceived. Certainly, no one could be so wise and no god could be so extraor-dinary. But, what if it was true? She needed to see with her own eyes! The journey to Jerusalem was long and ex-pensive.

Scholars estimate that the delegation, composed of soldiers, gifts, animals, supplies and servants traveled more than 30km per day for 75 days. But none of that mattered! No effort was too great

The Symposium on Energy Balance of the Latin American Scientific Series reached a significant conclusion about the already known benefits of physical activity on the human body. According to researchers, regular

exercise can increase by up to ten years life expectancy. Studies have shown that one hour of daily exercise activates no less than 800 genes, many of them capable of reducing by 50% the risk of developing fatal diseases such as cancer or diabetes.

The chapter 33 of the book of Jeremiah is about the restora-tion that God promised to Is-

rael and the redemptive work which is reflected in the life, death and, consequently, in the resurrection of Jesus - the One who conquered sin and has in His hands the keys of death and hell and assures us, through His name, His authority to triumph over any situation.

Verse 9 says: Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and

will tremble at the abundant pros-perity and peace I provide for it .

Let’s examine this verse to better understand what it teaches us. The text begins with a reference to a city (This city will bring me renowned ). But what is this city? It’s your spirit. We learn, through His Word, that the Lord does not dwell in temples, whether they are majestic or hum-ble, but rather within a contrite heart, and it is in this person that the Name, the authority and the power of Jesus manifest.

Now a person dominated by van-ity, unbridled desires, pleasures and the money ends up making these things his/her god, which actually are nothing but demons that disturb them.

When the verse speaks of joy is actually saying that God has the true joy for us. Even if the external

circumstances want to shake you, who is firmly established in the Fa-ther is happy and can express his/her joy to the world.

Praise is given to those who per-form the task, that is, obey the com-mandments of God. It is that direc-tion that He gives us about a situa-tion. The text also speaks of glory, something that we can understand as a badge bestowed to the soldiers at the end of a battle. History tells that when the soldiers returned to Rome, the victorious legionaries pa-raded by the route, and in joy, the people received them as heroes.

The option to say no to sin and reject evil is yours. Take a stand for your name to be confirmed in the book of life. Decide today to be a blessing to humanity and to God; live to serve the Lord and you will be served by Him (Luke 12.35-38).

Working is good

Active life, long life

Women with a consolidated professional career have more

health than those who are just housewives

Women who complain of the so-called double shift - conciliation of

household activities with the profes-sional world - should celebrate the an-

nouncement made at the recent meet-ing of American Sociological Association.

The study compared the health of women working off and those who only take care of the house and family, and concluded that the first ones are much healthier. According to the study, social isolation and financial dependence of the housewives eventually turn into risk factors for these women.

A tendency of the contem-porary society, late fatherhood may present problems which go beyond age incompatibil-ities between father and son. According to research pub-lished in Nature magazine,

older men have a higher risk of bearing children with mental and cognitive problems, such as autism or schizophrenia. In some cases, the probability in-creases 30%. Until then, it was believed that such anomalies were mainly cause by an aging mother.

Infancy condemnedA country with 97% of Muslim population, Pakistan, once in a while gives examples of religious intolerance that borders

on madness. In august, an 11 year old little girl, who suffers of mental illness, was arrested in the Christian neighborhood of Umara Jaffar, in the city of Islamabad, under the accusation of burning a copy of the Qur’an, the sacred book of Islam. In the country, with strong influence of Muslim clergy over the society, such an act is considered blasphemy and punishable of dea-th. The international negative repercussion leads the Pakistani president, Asif Ali Zardari, to intervene in the case.

the Arctic is a frozen sea - differently of South Pole, occupied by a frozen continent, Antarctica - and presented this year the largest reduction rate, associated with global warming. The previous thaw record was verified in 2007.
