What is Nation Building?
• Nation building is the process of rebuilding our government, our institutions, and our society to reflect the vision we want for our Nation.
• Nation building requires building our capacity to take on self-government and create a sustainable community and economy. – Building institutions of self-government that are culturally
appropriate – Establishing processes to make effective and informed
decisions– Developing capacity to implement those decisions
What is the Nation Building Plan?
• The Nation Building Plan identifies critical areas where concentrated planning is required to ensure that we do it right from the start.• It is made up of a number of different
plans/projectsTogether these separate plans contribute to Nation Building – As we implement each project we get closer and closer to our potential
What is the Nation Building Plan?
• The Nation Building Plan covers four categories:– Government and Administration– Economic Development– Land, Resources and Capital Infrastructure– Social Development
These are the pillars for rebuilding our Nation

Plans within the Plan
• The majority of these projects will be carried our after we ratify treaty, and before the effective date.• Part of getting ready for self-government
It will be a marathon- not a race (Change won’t happen overnight)
Conclusion
• Treaty is not the end goal- it is a tool to help us move towards our goal
• There will be much work to do after treaty to get ready for our effective date –that is why we created a plan– As we implement the various projects within the
Nation Building Plan we will increase our capacity to effectively govern ourselves and rebuild our Nation
– This will be a community effort
