The “Kerrang” masthead is covered by a band member of bring me the horizon, the masthead is well known by its customers and by covering a couple of letters in the masthead doesn’t affect an audience not knowing what magazine it is. The mast head is also presented as smashed glass which reinforces the strapline “life is loud” and it is that loud it can smash things; it is exactly what the target audience are looking for.

White; pink; yellow and blue are the main colours which are used to be able to contrast out the most important information on the magazine against the dark background. It makes the audience focus more in on the important bits that makes them want to read more of the magazine and purchase it. Pink and blue are used near each other on the magazine to make a colour connotation that the magazine is not based or aimed at one gender it is a unisex magazine.

Pugs that are on the left and right hand side of the magazine show the audience a quick view on what is included in the magazine. The main stories that people would want to hear about are highlighted on the front cover so that the audience read it and want to read more about the topic so purchasing the magazine would be what they want to do after seeing the cover.

Instead of the strapline being viewed on the magazine front cover there is a picture of the lead singer from bring me the horizon taking over the masthead. The band members facial expressions of him holding a microphone and looks as if he is screaming down the microphone also refers to the strapline of “life is loud” and suggests him making the loudness.

The blue ink splodges on the left of the page relate to the “UK’S BIGGEST GIG GUIDE” they look like ink splodges which also relate to the main image and the way the band member has tattoos this is so that the audience take interest on what is on the page and can infer that the celebrity is going to be at the gig.

“Epic!” “Tour!” “special!” These three words are featured on the front cover with an exclamation mark at the end this represents the exaggeration of how good the magazine will be and how you will feel after you buy the magazine. It shows its exclusiveness and these words also relate to the masthead. The masthead has an exclamation mark at the end to reinforce the loudness and looks as if it is screaming at you to purchase this magazine.

The masthead is covered by a member of my chemical romance. This suggests that not only is he an important part of this issue of the magazine, the magazine is that popular that the audience will already be able to recognise what the name of the magazine is. Therefore, some of the letters can be covered up with confidence that people will know what magazine it is.

The main house colours of this magazine is red black and white. The white is used as the masthead and for the really important words that need to stand out from the black or red backgrounds behind them. The colours are bold and outstanding which attracts the audience into looking at the magazine. The member of the my chemical romance band has red hair which matches the text of his main story in the magazine and shows the relationship through colour.

The band member is using eye contact and hand gestures pointing at the viewer to suggest him wanting them to buy the magazine. The target audience liking loud rock music for a genre will be influenced by the band member in order to find out his “inside story!” which is also using exaggeration on the word for the audience to think what is inside the magazine is exclusive and that can be offered to them by purchasing.

“THE UK’S BIGGEST GIG GUIDE” relates to the way in which without this magazine they will not be able to experience having this guide and audiences only want the best so by using persuasive text it forces the reader to wanting to buy this magazine.

The bottom strip is seen to be extras that a viewer can access once they buy the magazine. Using the word “PLUS!” with an exclamation at the end relates to the way in which the magazine is offering way more than others.

The masthead is smashed which represents the slogan of the magazine being “ life is loud “ and shows the audience it is that loud it can smash the title of the magazine so if you like the genre of loud rock it is the magazine for you.

The main house colours are yellow black and white all these colours are bold bright and stand out from one another. The masthead and background of the magazine is white leaving the writing to be black with yellow backgrounds around the important sections of text. By doing this the audience can clearly see what is on the magazine and by it being bold and outstanding it attracts the reader too look and purchase this magazine rather than light colours that do not stand out to the eye.

Hayley Williams from paramore is seen as the main celebrity used on the front page of the magazine. Her story that is included on the magazine can be seen in the biggest text on the left hand side next to her face. The text and image relate and suggest to the reader that this story is a must see and she will “answer YOUR questions” endorses the reader into purchasing the magazine because fans of this genre of music would want to find a way into speaking to one of their idols and finding out there own personal questions it is seen as a once in a lifetime opportunity with buying the magazine.

The Pugs are used around the side of the magazine to present to the target audience all the exclusives they will be provided with if they purchase the magazine. As well as this, the bottom strip of the magazine “PLUS!” is emphasis to the reader that not only are they getting a lot of exclusives and opportunity's from the magazine they are even giving you some more for your money and make the magazine seem worth buying.

The celebrity is using eye contact in the picture for the reader to feel as if they are involved and seems as if Hayley would want you to buy this magazine. The left side is where all the important stories are included so that when the magazines are being stocked up in the shops target audience will still be able to see the top stories and will be engaged into looking some more into the magazine.

At the top left corner of the magazine it includes an issue number and a cover date. This is to inform the reader of what magazine they are reading each time and will also give them an idea of how much they have missed out on if they have missed an issue.

Kerrang displays the house colour through to the contents page which is Red, black and yellow. They are all bold bright colours that stand out and contrast from one another which is why the colours are good for box outs and big words so that it is eye- catching and attracts the audience.

What is included in the magazine is shown on the contents page in sections. The main features has one section on the page and usually refers to what is included on the front cover of the magazine. The other information included in the magazine is shown in the other sections which is more to attract the reader and make them want to read more and buy more copies of the particular magazine.

The images that were used on the contents page refers to what is going to be included inside the magazine. People prefer to look at images as well as text so they can understand more. With the pictures being included, on the page it allows the reader to know what to expect with something extra other than text.

Celebrity picture is used to cover the masthead. This is because of how well known the magazine is so to cover a few letters with a picture isn't affecting the readers of knowing which magazine it is.

The house colour is white, red and beige. This is shown through the text and is also shown on the main image of the front colour. The celebrity is shown to be wearing a red outfit and the colour of her lips match it which is fitting in with the main house colour of the magazine.

Important information that the magazine wants to make sure the reader is seeing is made bigger and bolder than any of the other text on the front cover.

This particular contents page is different to others it takes over a double page and includes a lot of images and words explaining what is included inside the magazine. The numbers of pages beside the small text explanation allows the reader to check the contents and go straight to the page they were looking for as well as being able to see what other information is in the magazine.Mocking jay and Super girl are seen as the bigger images and refers to the main articles that are being featured in the magazine, beside these images extra information is shown to tell the reader a little bit more before they go to the full article. Black, white and red is shown as the house colour that is carried on throughout the magazine. These colours are used because they are bold and outstanding colours. On a magazine the colours need to be able to attract a certain audience meaning each colour is chosen for a specific reason.

The magazine Industry.The masthead “vogue” is written in red big, bold writing. Each time the magazine creates a new issue the text style stays the same but may change the colour relating to what fits the main image.

“Best Dressed” is written at the bottom of the magazine in the same colour as the masthead. It is larger than any of the other text around the outside and refers to that being the main article included in the magazine.

The main image is dressed in a sophisticated outfit and the text around it is a gold colour with refers to the audience the elegance the magazine withholds.

Pugs that are on the left and right hand side of the magazine show the audience a quick view on what is included in the magazine. The main stories that people would want to hear about are highlighted on the front cover so that the audience read it and want to read more about the topic so purchasing the magazine would be what they want to do after seeing the cover.

At the top of the page it is telling the reader that this is the page that you will be able to find out exactly what is included in vogue.

Image selected on the right side of the page to relate to the main article which is being featured about fashion and style.

The magazine articles is broken down into sections on the contents page to help the reader find what they are looking for or what interests them the most really easy and quick.

Page numbers next to the articles and mini blurb about the pages is included so that the reader knows exactly what page to go to for a specific read efficiently. At the bottom of the page it gives the reader an option to subscribe to vogue this allows them to get more quick inside information that they want and includes the expansion of synergy through technology.

I like this double page spread as an inspiration of what I would want my pop magazine to look like. The picture on the left hand side is of Jessie J due to her being the person featured in the main article. The image is big and clear which attracts the audience to look at the page and then moves their vision left to right where the text is. The name “Jessie J” is at the top of the page and is in a font that looks as if she has signed the article herself. The text “Superstar Rising” is in a colour which matches the colour of Jessie J’s lips on the opposing page and is also used in the text of the main article. “Fun Fearless Female” is written in the top right hand corner which explains to the audience Jessie J’s personality side and gives them a small bit of information about her. Page number is at the bottom of the right hand page to make sure that the audience can find the article through the contents page. At the bottom of the page it says the magazine name “Cosmopolitan” so that the text cannot be copyrighted by another magazine and the month of the magazine that the article is in so that the reader knows which month magazine is which. The picture at the bottom is another one of Jessie J and this picture is representing her achieving an award and portrays her being a role model for the target audience.

This double page spread is another one that I have used as an inspiration for what I want my magazine to look like. I will take bits from this double page spread as inspiration and add it to my own design of magazine. Cher Lloyd is featured in the main article. Her picture is on the right hand side of the double page spread. She is wearing black and blue which is contrasting from the other colours that are being used on the double page spread. The audience know exactly what they are reading when they can see at the top of the left hand page it says “Cover Story” in a star so it attracts the audience to look at it and read what the article is about. A quote has been taken out of the main article and put at the top of the page in a large text, it is a quote from Cher and is the first thing the audience will read so it has to be eye catching and make the reader want to read on. The page number is included at the bottom of the left hand page in order for the reader to be able to find the article by looking at the contents page and finding the right number for this story. The magazines website is another way that the audience can access the information and is displayed at the bottom of the page next to the page number. Pink is the main colour used in this articles it is used to highlight key information and shapes has been made around the double page spread in order to attract the reader with a bright colour, it looks more informal and more approachable for the target audience age group.
