Fryderyk „Frycek” Chopin

One of the great masters of Romantic music. All of Chopin's works involve the piano. They are technically demanding but emphasize nuance and expressive depth.

Chopin invented the musical form known as the instrumental ballade and made major innovations to the piano sonata, mazurka, waltz,

nocturne, polonaise, étude, impromptu and prélude.

Random facts:• When he was a child his family

called him „Frycek”. Isn’t that sweet?

• One of his most popular tracks is „Funeral march”.

• Every 5 years in Warsaw is organized International Chopin Piano Competition

Time for something new…

Behemoth

One of the few Polish bands known around the world. Behemoth represents blackened death metal. They are

considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground.

Random Facts:

• During the recording process, Nergal (vocalist) always eats a lot of sweet things like Cheerios flakes and drinks water with honey. It makes his voice sounds deeper.

• In 2010 Behemoth took part in famous Sonisphere Festival. They played as a support before Big Four Of Trash Metal ( Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax).

• Unfortunately, since may 2010 Nergal has been struggling with cancer. Fans believe that he will be healthy soon .

Stanisław Wyspiański

Polish playwright, painter and poet, as well as interior and furniture designer. A patriotic writer,

he created a series of symbolic, national dramas within the artistic philosophy of the Young Poland Movement. Wyspiański was one of the

most outstanding and multifaceted artists of his time in Europe. He successfully joined the trends of modernism with themes of the Polish

folk tradition and Romantic history. Unofficially, he came to be known as the Fourth Polish Bard (in addition to the earlier

Three Bards: Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, and Zygmunt Krasiński).

Random facts: • The main theme of

his paintings were his own children.

• His artistic work was dominated by paintings done in pastels.

• The year 2007 was named „The Wyspiański Year”.

Representative of the fantasy realists in the modern Polish art. Her work includes works in the field of oil and tempera

painting and graphic art both traditional and digital. Anna Karolak refers most often to her work as magical

realism, which is fantasy as being understood in a particular way.

Random facts:• Her works are on one

sidea conglomeration of her interest in the world of mysticism, and on the other a result of her scientific knowledge in the field of astronomy and cosmology. It is also inspired by the art of classical music and e-music (electronic music).

• Her works are present in the collections of Polish and foreign art and have been displayed at exhibitions in Poland, France and Italy.

Andie McDowell loves his designs. She was wearing Zień's dress in 2007 on "Telekamery" (polish television awards).

• Zień is the only Polish designer whose work has been shown at the National Museum.
