The Easter Island

There are many things that make Easter Island fascinating, but the biggest is its mystery. Easter Island is a near total enigma, a ghost town of epic proportions, an entire culture vanished almost without a trace, leaving us nothing but the countless giant stone sculptures known as Moai and a lot of questions about why and how this mass extinction occurred.

Easter Island What makes this more question-raising is the fact that even today the Moai “factory” at the volcanic site seems to have been abandoned suddenly, with works in various stages of progress, as if everyone on the island just upped and vanished.

What remains is a ghostly testament to a mystery that will probably never be answered, but it is also a place of incredible beauty. The island sits in the Pacific and is ringed with dramatic cliffs and rocky coast, and has an incredible fantasy volcano filled with a lagoon whose rim you can hike around. There are plenty of trails and scenery, and then of course there are the Moai.

The Crooked Forest

•A grove of oddly-shaped pine trees located in West-Pomerania , Poland.

•400 pines

•planted around 1930, when its location was still within the German province of Pomerania

• It is generally believed that some form of human tool or technique was used to make the trees grow this way, but the method and motive are not currently known.

• It has been speculated that the trees may have been deformed to create naturally curved timber for use in furniture or boat building

The Magnetic Hill

• An example of a gravity hill, a type of optical illusion created by rising and descending terrain.

• Located  in the Canadian province of New Brunswick .

• To experience Magnetic Hill today, drivers must pay a fee to drive their cars to the end of the road

• When a car is placed in neutral, it will begin to roll backwards, apparently uphill. Observers will also note that water in the adjacent drainage ditches also seemingly runs “uphill.”
